On the morning of April 25, the Culture and Social Affairs Committee of the Provincial People's Council held a meeting to review this content to submit to the upcoming 20th session of the Provincial People's Council. Ms. Truong Thi Phuong Thao - Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Committee chaired the meeting.
According to the audit report, by becoming a type II urban area, Tay Ninh city has the basis and motivation to increase investment attraction, promote socio -economic development, improve people's quality of life, and effectively implement the urban development orientations and programs of Tay Ninh province until 2030.
Urban infrastructure has been invested in, the transportation network has been well developed, many new roads and public works have been built. However, there are still some roads and public works in the area that have not been named or have been named by the people themselves, some of the current street names are no longer suitable.
The naming and renaming of streets and public works in Tay Ninh city is of great significance, contributing to the effective implementation of administrative management, national defense and security, creating favorable conditions for economic, cultural and social activities; in accordance with development planning, meeting the aspirations of local people; at the same time, contributing to educating historical and cultural traditions and enhancing national pride.
According to the report of the Provincial People's Committee submitted to the Provincial People's Council, the draft Resolution names 7 roads in Ward 3 and Tan Binh Commune. Rename 4 roads including Lo Chanh Mon A, Co Thanh Ve, Thuyen Street, and Truong Chinh Cu (in Ward IV, Hiep Ninh). Name 2 public works: the park along Tay Ninh Canal, in Ward 2 is Quang Trung Park; the open space area (old stadium) is To Quyen Square.
After consideration, the Culture - Social Committee of the Provincial People's Council found that the historical figures mentioned in the draft Resolution are all listed in the Bank of Street Names, Roads and Public Works in Tay Ninh Province according to Decision No. 1220/QD-UBND dated June 6, 2019, Decision No. 858/QD-UBND dated April 16, 2025 of the Provincial People's Committee and have important historical significance.
In order to make the naming and renaming of streets and public works in the province more and more strict, ensuring compliance with the provisions of law, the Culture - Social Committee of the Provincial People's Council requests the Provincial People's Committee to direct departments, branches, sectors and relevant agencies to study and propose to supplement the Bank of names of streets and public works in Tay Ninh province; continue to review proposals for naming and renaming streets and public works in the province to ensure compliance with the guidance in Circular No. 36/2006/TT-BVHTT, dated March 20, 2006 of the Ministry of Culture - Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) and other guiding documents of the Central Government.
After the Resolution of the Provincial People's Council is issued, the Provincial People's Committee is requested to direct the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, relevant departments, branches and sectors to organize consultation on the implementation of the Resolution, strengthen information and propaganda work, and at the same time urge and inspect the implementation of the Resolution to ensure compliance with regulations.
At the meeting, members of the Provincial People's Council's Culture and Social Committee and representatives of relevant units had comments such as: street naming needs to be considered, adding more locations, coordinates, and explaining street names; consider choosing names that are appropriate to the scale of the project, road, etc. Representatives of the Tay Ninh City People's Committee and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also answered the delegates' comments.
Concluding the meeting, Ms. Truong Thi Phuong Thao - Head of the Culture - Social Committee of the Provincial People's Council basically agreed with the proposal to name and rename streets and public works in the city according to the draft Resolution.
The Head of the Provincial People's Council's Culture and Social Affairs Committee requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate in adjusting and completing the resolution to submit in the upcoming session; study and add some street names to the Street Name Bank; study and coordinate in attaching coordinates to street names; review the naming of streets in districts and towns in the province; organize widespread propaganda to create consensus among the people.
