On November 26, the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations held a meeting to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the National Day of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (December 2, 1975 - December 2, 2025).
The event demonstrates solidarity and friendship between the people of Ho Chi Minh City and the people of Lao localities.
In his congratulatory speech, Mr. Ngo Minh Chau, former Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City, said that this is an opportunity for the two countries to look back at the exemplary, loyal, and pure relationship between the two nations, which has been cultivated by generations of leaders and people of the two countries; tempered through war, preserved in peace and continued to be promoted in the integration period.
Ho Chi Minh City and Lao localities have organized many working delegations and people-to-people exchange activities, contributing to deepening the bond, improving the effectiveness of cooperation and opening up many new directions for development between localities.
The leaders of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association of the City affirmed that they always strive to preserve and promote the special Vietnam-Laos relationship through annual friendship exchange activities; visit and support Lao students studying in the city; organize delegations to visit neighboring countries, connect businesses, promote economic, cultural and educational exchanges - these are not only tasks but also honors and responsibilities assigned by the Party Committee, government and people of the city.
Mr. Phonesy Bounmixay, Lao Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, thanked the City Union of Friendship Organizations for organizing the celebration of the important holiday of the Lao people.
He shared that December 2, 1975 was the day the Lao People's Revolutionary Party led the Lao ethnic people to fulfill their great historical mission, completely abolishing the old regime, opening a new era, an era in which the Lao people truly became masters of the country.
He pointed out that the achievements that the Lao people have gained in the cause of protecting and building the country today cannot be separated from the great and valuable support of friendly and international countries, especially the Party, State and people of Vietnam.
The Lao Party, State and people are always deeply grateful to the Party, State and people of Vietnam for their great, timely and effective assistance over the past time.
According to Mr. Phonesy Bounmixay, Ho Chi Minh City has established friendly and cooperative relations with many localities of Laos and regularly supports, shares experiences, and promotes cooperation with localities; contributing to strengthening the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Laos.
Currently, there are 44 Ho Chi Minh City enterprises investing in Laos with a total capital of more than 500 million USD and 800 Lao students, officials and civil servants are studying in Ho Chi Minh City./.
