As the final talk in the series “Talk GreenBiz - Green Growth Compass” co-organized by the Fund for Green Future and Dan Tri newspaper, the online talk on the carbon market for Vietnamese enterprises with the theme “Open Forum - Connecting policies and practices” will update the latest legal framework and analyze the current status of the voluntary carbon market.

The program will also directly connect businesses with experts to help businesses identify barriers, seize opportunities and build strategies to participate in the carbon market in a proactive and sustainable manner.

The seminar featured two leading guest experts in the industry, Dr. Nguyen Sy Linh and Dr. Nguyen Phuong Nam.

Dr. Nguyen Sy Linh is Head of the Climate Change Department, Institute of Strategy and Policy on Agriculture and Environment ( Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ). With a PhD in Global, Urban and Social Studies from RMIT University (Australia), he has 25 years of environmental experience and more than 15 years of climate change response policy analysis.

Dr. Linh regularly shares with international organizations, research institutes, associations and businesses about climate action plans, carbon market development, green transition trends, greenhouse gas emission reduction and circular economy .

At the seminar, he will present the topic "Carbon market development in Vietnam: Viewed from the perspective of policy improvement", clarifying the mechanisms and policies that need to be built and improved for the market to operate effectively, contributing to achieving the Net Zero 2050 target.

Adding a practical perspective is Dr. Nguyen Phuong Nam - Founder and General Director of KLINOVA Climate Innovation Consulting and Services Company - a leading green transformation consulting unit, accompanying many domestic and international corporations operating in Vietnam.

Mr. Nguyen Phuong Nam has a PhD in Agricultural Sciences (University of Bonn, Germany, 2012) and has recently received a Bachelor of Laws (University of Law - VNU Hanoi). Since 2016, he has been a member of the editorial board of the Vietnam Environment Magazine; since 2017, an international assessor for the UNFCCC; since 2023, an advisor to the United Nations Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT); and since 2024, a sustainability standards advisor for the Southeast Asia Capital Markets Committee.

During the period 2012-2019, he held the role of Head of the Climate Change Response Center (CliTech) under the Department of Climate Change. He also supported the C40 Organization as a climate advisor for Hanoi (2019-2021) and has more than 20 years of cooperation with development partners such as the United Nations, ADB, GIZ, WB, JICA and many Vietnamese ministries and sectors.

With his in-depth experience in working with businesses, Dr. Nam will analyze the current status of the voluntary carbon market, pointing out the barriers and readiness of Vietnamese businesses before participating in the carbon market.

In addition to the individual sharing of each speaker, the seminar will also have a connection session, direct sharing and Q&A between the two experts and the audience, and at the same time summarize the series of seminars on the carbon market, providing specific action directions for businesses.

The program takes place at a time when Vietnam is completing the carbon market legal framework according to the COP26 roadmap, when global credit demand is soaring and international partners are tightening requirements to green the supply chain.

First movers not only reduce the risk of being excluded from export markets, but also turn carbon credits into a new source of value and competitive advantage. On the other hand, latecomers risk incurring additional compliance costs or losing their competitive advantage.

The talk show will be broadcast live on Dan Tri newspaper at 11am on November 17.
