On the morning of April 29, Hop Thanh 2 Bridge (Thanh Ha) was opened to traffic by contractors for people to travel. The project was completed and put into operation on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
Hop Thanh 2 Bridge is parallel to the old Hop Thanh Bridge, built as an additional part of the Provincial Road 390 Improvement and Upgrading Project, from the old Hop Thanh Bridge to Quang Thanh Bridge. The new bridge has a cross-section of 7 m, equivalent to the old Hop Thanh Bridge.
The bridge section was constructed by Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company No. 18 and was completed at the end of January 2025, on schedule. The approach roads at both ends of the bridge were constructed by Viet Hoa Construction and Trading Joint Stock Company, but were delayed due to lack of land. The project has a total investment of 421.2 billion VND, with the Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board as the investor.
The old Hop Thanh Bridge is narrow and cannot meet the increasing demand of people and vehicles, especially since the Quang Thanh Bridge connecting to Hai Phong City came into operation in 2021. The newly completed Hop Thanh Bridge has contributed to reducing traffic pressure on the old Hop Thanh Bridge. People and vehicles traveling from Thanh Ha town to Ha Dong area, to Hai Phong City will follow the old Hop Thanh Bridge, and in the opposite direction will follow Hop Thanh 2 Bridge.
