A new deal between Lionel Messi and Inter Miami has been officially signed, extending the Argentine superstar's contract until 2028. This could be the last contract in Messi's "illustrious" career.
With the new contract, beIN SPORTS revealed that Messi will have many attractive privileges off the field such as co-ownership of Inter Miami with Jorge Mas, Jose Mas and David Beckham after retirement, serving as a global brand ambassador for Inter Miami, maintaining partnerships with Adidas and Apple.
The specific income level in the new contract has not been disclosed, however the American press believes that Messi will continue to be the highest-paid player in MLS, equal to what he received at Inter Miami in the past two years.
According to statistics from the MLS Players Association, Messi's base salary is $12 million/year. Total guaranteed income is up to $20.4 million - about $5 million higher than the second place, Lorenzo Insigne.
According to Sportico , the total value of Messi's initial two-and-a-half-year contract package at Inter Miami is up to $150 million, including advertising contracts and brand ambassador roles.
Notably, Messi's non-club advertising income is extremely impressive. Forbes estimates that in 2024 alone, Messi will earn an additional $79 million from advertising contracts with Adidas, Hard Rock International and Apple TV.
