According to the Prime Minister, after 80 years of the August Revolution, 50 years of unification, 40 years of Renovation, our country has achieved comprehensive, great, and historically significant achievements. This is partly thanks to the noble sacrifices of heroic martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers, and millions of comrades and compatriots through the generations who have fallen, sacrificed, suffered injuries, and donated a part of their flesh and blood.

In recognition of that great contribution, today's generation continues to unite and strive for the country to develop rapidly and sustainably, entering a new era - an era of national prosperity, civilization and prosperity as General Secretary To Lam stated, worthy of the people's wishes and the sacrifices of our heroes, martyrs, comrades and compatriots.

The Prime Minister emphasized that in the coming time, the Party and State will continue to identify the work of caring for and implementing preferential policies for people with revolutionary contributions as a very important policy and a sacred, regular and long-term task of the entire political system and society. We must act with a noble humanity, responsibility and sacred duty towards the soldiers who sacrificed their lives; promote the profound "patriotic love and compatriotism"; the tradition of "remembering the source when drinking water; remembering the person who planted the tree when eating fruit" with all the respect and command from the heart.

The Prime Minister requested all levels, sectors and localities to carry out a number of key tasks.

Firstly, continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the Party's policies; review, supplement and perfect the State's policies towards people with meritorious services and their relatives with increasingly better, more comprehensive and more effective regimes and policies.

Second, continue to promote the tradition of "Repaying gratitude"; better implement policies for people with meritorious services, without interruption or delay; handle procedures quickly and conveniently with the highest sense of responsibility and the most respectful feelings.

Third, mobilize social resources to carry out movements and activities of "Repaying gratitude", "House of gratitude", "Repaying gratitude" Fund, "Comradely affection" to give "Gratitude savings books", take care of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers...

Fourth, research specific, practical and effective support mechanisms and measures for people with meritorious services, war invalids, sick soldiers and their families, especially in developing production and business, household economy, enriching themselves and contributing to the increasingly rich and beautiful community, society and country.

Fifth, strengthen propaganda and education, especially for the younger generation, about the heroic history of the nation, about the great sacrifices of heroic martyrs to foster and nurture patriotism; deeply understand gratitude, actively participate in supporting heroic Vietnamese mothers, taking care of wounded soldiers, relatives of martyrs, families with meritorious services, and renovating works to honor and commemorate martyrs.

"Each candle lit tonight is not only a tribute to the past but also a light to guide the way, connecting the past, present and future, a promise of today's generation to live, fight, work and study worthy of the sacrifices of previous generations. That is the most meaningful tribute, thereby successfully fulfilling the wish of President Ho Chi Minh - the great national hero, world cultural celebrity of Vietnam, and the aspiration of the entire nation, to build a developed, prosperous, democratic, fair, civilized Vietnam, on par with the world powers; and also a condition to take increasingly better care of those with meritorious services and relatives of martyrs," the Prime Minister said.

Recalling the teachings of beloved President Ho Chi Minh: "The soldiers sacrificed their blood and bones to protect the country. The soldiers are truly worthy of the Fatherland and the Fatherland will never forget such beloved children!", the Prime Minister affirmed that we, the present and future generations, will forever be grateful to the heroic martyrs who heroically sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for the happiness and prosperity of the people.
