The candle lighting ceremony to pay tribute to the national heroic martyrs was held at the Truong Son National Martyrs’ Cemetery, the resting place of 10,263 heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives on the legendary Ho Chi Minh trail during the resistance war against the US to save the country. The candle lighting ceremony in the heroic land of Quang Tri, which used to be the “fire coordinates” of the nation, has profound meaning, reminding the younger generation of the great sacrifices of previous generations to achieve peace and independence today.

Also at this time, at all AHLS and AHLS memorials across the country, thousands of gratitude candles are being lit simultaneously, as a deep gratitude of the young generation for the AHLS.

In a solemn and emotional atmosphere, leaders, delegates, union members and young people respectfully offered flowers and incense and observed a minute of silence to commemorate the great contributions of President Ho Chi Minh and the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

Within the framework of the activities of “repaying gratitude” and “remembering the source of water when drinking” to celebrate the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, towards the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presented 80 gifts to families of people with meritorious services.
Along with that, in order to express the affection of the young generation towards their fathers and brothers who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, there were many meaningful activities of union members and young people nationwide during the days of gratitude in July. In particular, young people in the Skyline group presented 80 martyrs' portraits restored with AI technology to the martyrs' families.

Speaking at the ceremony, Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, First Secretary of the Central Youth Union Bui Quang Huy, expressed his deep gratitude to the generations of fathers and brothers who have fallen. Today's young generation will never forget and be grateful to those who sacrificed for the Fatherland, reminding themselves to cherish peace and happiness; to live a full and useful life, worthy of what the previous generations have dedicated and sacrificed.

The Prime Minister emphasized that those living today need to continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, join hands to build the homeland to become more and more prosperous, firmly step into the new era, worthy of the great sacrifices of the heroic Vietnamese mothers. The Prime Minister requested departments, branches, sectors and localities to focus on reviewing and implementing more effectively the policies of "repaying gratitude"; at the same time, mobilize resources to practically care for Vietnamese heroic mothers, war invalids, families of martyrs and people with meritorious services to the revolution.

The Prime Minister affirmed that the candles lit today are not only a tribute to the past, but also a symbol of connecting generations, a sacred promise and the deepest gratitude for the noble sacrifice of our fathers and brothers.
At the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and delegates offered flowers, incense and lit candles in gratitude at the martyrs' graves.
