Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed the visit of Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau; expressing his belief that the visit will contribute to further developing the traditional friendship and good cooperation between Vietnam and Poland in many fields. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that the Vietnamese Government always attaches importance to and wishes to strengthen multifaceted cooperation with Poland, a traditional friendly partner.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh once again thanked the Government and people of Poland for recently donating nearly 1.4 million doses of vaccines and 8 tons of medical equipment worth about 4 million USD, contributing to supporting Vietnam to soon overcome the pandemic and open up and recover the economy ; affirming that this is a noble gesture, an expression of sincere affection and deep attachment between the people of the two countries.
Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau expressed his pleasure to visit Vietnam and sincerely thanked Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for taking the time to receive the delegation. The Minister expressed his impression of Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements and affirmed that Poland wishes to further promote cooperation with Vietnam, Poland's most important partner in Southeast Asia.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the fact that Poland has been Vietnam's largest trade partner in Central and Eastern Europe for many years; expressed his delight that, despite the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic , economic and trade cooperation between the two countries has continued to maintain strong growth momentum, with two-way trade turnover in 2021 and 2022 both at a high level, over 2.5 billion USD.
The Prime Minister asked Poland to facilitate the increasing presence of Vietnamese agricultural, forestry and fishery products in the Polish market; and encourage Polish enterprises to increase investment in the fields of pharmaceuticals, food processing, manufacturing industry, etc.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister proposed that Poland soon ratify the Vietnam - EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) to facilitate equal and mutually beneficial investment cooperation between the two countries; urge the European Commission (EC) to soon remove the IUU yellow card for Vietnamese seafood products, meeting the interests of Polish and EU consumers as well as ensuring the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of workers in the Vietnamese fishing industry.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also discussed with Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau a number of measures to promote cooperation in the fields of education - training, culture - tourism, agriculture, science - technology, etc.
Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau pledged to urge Polish ministries and sectors to coordinate with the Vietnamese side to concretize the opinions of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, contributing to making bilateral cooperation increasingly practical and effective; at the same time, he expressed his desire to strengthen cooperation in areas where Poland has strengths such as information technology, smart cities, green technology, environmental protection, etc.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Polish Foreign Minister agreed that the two countries need to strengthen cooperation at multilateral and regional forums. Regarding the East Sea issue, the two sides stressed the importance of ensuring security, safety, and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea as well as resolving disputes by peaceful means on the basis of international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked the Polish Government for its active support to the Vietnamese community in Poland as well as Vietnamese people in Ukraine who evacuated to Poland in recent times; at the same time, he asked the Polish Government to create conditions for Vietnamese people in Poland to stabilize their lives and make practical and effective contributions to the good traditional friendship between Vietnam and Poland.
On this occasion, Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau respectfully conveyed the invitation of Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to soon pay an official visit to Poland. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh respectfully thanked and said he would arrange to visit Poland at a time suitable for both sides.
