Prime Minister asks Speaker of Japanese House of Representatives to promote new generation ODA program

According to the special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, on the afternoon of December 18, in Tokyo, within the framework of a working trip to attend the Summit to celebrate the 50th anniversary of ASEAN-Japan relations and conduct bilateral activities in Japan, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Speaker of the Japanese House of Representatives Nukaga Fukushiro.

 

At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his delight at the strong, comprehensive and substantive development of the Vietnam-Japan friendship and cooperation, in which Japan is the number one partner in terms of ODA, second in terms of labor, third in terms of investment and fourth in terms of trade; affirming that Vietnam always considers Japan a leading and long-term important partner.

 

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked the Japanese House of Representatives for their cooperation and support for the development of Vietnam-Japan relations in recent times; conveyed the greetings and invitations to visit Vietnam from General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Vo Van Thuong and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue to the Speaker of the Japanese House of Representatives; and thanked the Japanese National Assembly for its support for President Vo Van Thuong's policy speech at the House of Representatives during his official visit to Japan in late November.

 

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked Chairman Nukaga Fukushiro and the Japanese House of Representatives to pay attention to and support the enhancement of multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Japan within the framework of the new Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; enhance cooperation and exchanges between the two countries' parliaments, increase the exchange of high-level delegations, and exchanges between parliamentarians, young parliamentarians, and female parliamentarians of the two countries; support and promote the connection between the two economies, assist Vietnam in building an independent and self-reliant economy; continue to support Vietnam in the process of industrialization and modernization of the country, promote Vietnam-Japan cooperation in the fields of Digital Transformation, Green Transformation, combating climate change, and conserving natural resources; and strengthen security and defense cooperation between the two countries.

 

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also asked the Speaker of the Japanese House of Representatives to promote the effective implementation of the new generation ODA program with high incentives, simple and flexible procedures for large-scale strategic infrastructure development projects in Vietnam, in the fields of Green Transformation and Digital Transformation; strengthen local cooperation, people-to-people exchange, labor cooperation, and human resource training.

 

Speaker of the House of Representatives Nukaga Fukushiro expressed his delight at the two countries' recent upgrade to "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World"; highly appreciated the remarkable and substantive developments of the Vietnam-Japan relationship, especially the political and economic achievements in recent years; and expressed his hope that the two sides would continue to strengthen exchanges and close cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries in the coming time.

 

Sharing memories of his first visit to Vietnam 35 years ago, Speaker of the Japanese House of Representatives Nukaga Fukushiro said he was very impressed and admired Vietnam's remarkable development in recent times.

 

Appreciating the diligence and dynamism of Vietnamese workers, the advantages of Vietnam's population and human resources, the Speaker of the Japanese House of Representatives pledged to support policies to improve living conditions for Vietnamese people in Japan, improve income in the context of the devaluation of the yen; and support the simplification of procedures towards visa exemption for Vietnamese citizens entering Japan.
