Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visits and works in Dong Thap

During the working visit to Dong Thap province, on the morning of August 13, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Government delegation visited a number of agricultural and rural development facilities and inspected and surveyed traffic projects in Dong Thap province.

* Before visiting and surveying the facilities and projects, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and offered incense at the relic site of Vice-Chancellor Nguyen Sinh Sac in Ward 4, Cao Lanh City. The Prime Minister respectfully lit incense and observed a moment of silence to commemorate the contributions, morality and noble personality of Vice-Chancellor Nguyen Sinh Sac - a model of studiousness, a Confucian scholar with great patriotism and love for the people.

Writing in the memorial book, the Prime Minister expressed his deep gratitude to Mr. Nguyen Sinh Sac - the father and foster father of President Ho Chi Minh, a world cultural celebrity, a great national liberation hero, an outstanding leader of the Party, State and people; vowing to strive for a strong and prosperous Vietnam, and for the people to be increasingly prosperous and happy.

* Visiting the rice milling factory of Vietnam Rice Company Limited (VINARICE) in Truong Xuan Industrial Cluster, Thap Muoi District, with a drying and processing capacity of 50,000 tons of seeds and 100,000 tons of rice/year, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW, dated June 16, 2022 on agriculture, farmers, and rural areas sets the goal of civilized farmers with high income by 2045; ecological agriculture; modern rural areas. Vietnam Rice Company Limited is one of the units that is performing well the tasks of the Resolution.

The Prime Minister commended the Company for investing in a high-quality rice production facility with modern equipment; the Factory's rice is distributed to consumers in many countries; contributing to building a rice value chain; increasing the value of rice and contributing to improving the lives of farmers; contributing to building an independent, self-reliant and proactive economy, actively integrating deeply, substantially and effectively.

The Prime Minister requested the Company to continue diversifying products and markets, participating more deeply in global supply chains; processing deeply, increasing the value of agricultural products; linking more closely between people and businesses to promote the application of advanced science and technology in clean, productive, high-quality production; both serving exports and ensuring food security.

Along with that, it is necessary to stabilize the market, stabilize prices; build the brand of Vietnamese agricultural products in general and of the Company in particular; well implement the planning of raw material areas; build a "5-house" linkage chain including: managers, scientists, farmers, traders (including banks) and consumers, in the spirit of "harmonious benefits, shared risks".

* Visiting the Thang Loi Agricultural Service Cooperative in My Dong Commune, Thap Muoi District, the Prime Minister praised the Cooperative for being a pioneer in linking production of seeds and commercial rice. In particular, the Cooperative is implementing rice production according to the Sustainable Rice Production (SRP) standard, complying with 41 prescribed standards, such as: not using children in production, alternating flood and dry irrigation with a water surface sensor system, contributing to reducing production costs and increasing profits for farmers.

The Prime Minister requested that Cooperatives continue to implement digital transformation in agriculture to connect and effectively exploit scientific knowledge, technology, production skills; management science; monitor and supervise production; quickly and promptly connect production with the market. Along with that, continue to implement green production, improve product quality; promote mechanization, improve labor productivity; reduce input costs to improve production efficiency; contribute to increasing people's income.

* Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also inspected the Cao Lanh - An Huu expressway construction project, phase 1 with a total length of 27.43 km (about 18.2 km through Dong Thap province and about 9.23 km through Tien Giang province); total investment of about 5,886 billion VND.

At the construction site, after hearing the project report, the Prime Minister directed the investor and contractor to ensure the progress, quality, and technical aesthetics of the project; ensure labor safety and environmental sanitation, and strive to complete the project before December 2025; avoid unreasonable capital increases; and fight against negativity and corruption. At the same time, build beautiful, green intersections and effectively exploit new development space. Special attention should be paid to prioritizing the use of local labor to serve the project, both reducing costs and creating jobs for people...

* Previously, the Prime Minister inspected the project to upgrade National Highway 30, Cao Lanh City section (Cao Lanh City bypass). The route is 16.5km long, with a total investment of more than 912 billion VND. Currently, the project has implemented 3/3 packages, expected to be completed in 2024.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the project is of great significance, contributing to the completion of the Traffic Planning approved by the Prime Minister; it is an important horizontal axis to connect with main axes such as: National Highway 1A, Ho Chi Minh Road, Cao Lanh - Vam Cong Expressway and Lo Te Rach Soi... In particular, the project has a large number of households affected and having to be relocated (586 households), so Dong Thap needs to pay attention to organizing for the relocated people to have a new life that is at least equal to, and strives to be better than, their old place of residence.
