Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh receives Tanzania's Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation

On April 30, in Ho Chi Minh City, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, United Republic of Tanzania Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, who is on an official visit to Vietnam and attending the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed Minister Mahmoud Thabit Kombo's first visit to Vietnam on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (February 14, 1965 - February 14, 2025) and emphasized that the presence of the Minister and distinguished guests from Tanzania at this important celebration brings joy and valuable encouragement to the Party, State and people of Vietnam.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his appreciation for the support that the Revolutionary Party, State and people of Tanzania have given to Vietnam during the past struggle for national independence and the current national construction.

Recalling his visit to Tanzania in December 2019 when he was Head of the Central Organizing Committee and his meeting with Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan in November 2024, the Prime Minister congratulated the State and people of Tanzania on the occasion of the 61st National Day (April 26, 1964 - April 26, 2025) and believed that, under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, the Republic of Tanzania will achieve even more achievements in national construction and development, successfully implementing the "National Development Vision 2050" Initiative.

In order to promote the development of bilateral relations more effectively and substantially, in the spirit of "what is said is done, what is committed is done, what is done must have results", the Prime Minister suggested that the two countries increase the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-level ones; and look forward to soon welcoming President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa to visit Vietnam.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that Tanzania soon open an embassy in Vietnam. At the same time, the Vietnamese embassy in Tanzania will promote relations between the two countries, serving as a bridge for Tanzania to access the ASEAN market and Vietnam to access the East African market.

The Prime Minister suggested that the two countries consider economic cooperation as the focus, perfect the legal framework for bilateral cooperation, including negotiating and signing free trade agreements, promoting cooperation in potential and strong areas such as digital transformation, agriculture, fisheries, tourism, aviation, education and training, cyber security, etc.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister requested that the Tanzanian Government continue to pay attention to and support Viettel and other Vietnamese enterprises to invest and operate stably and effectively, making practical contributions to the development of the two countries.

The Tanzanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation expressed his honor to be present and share the joy of the Vietnamese people at the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.

Witnessing the patriotism of the people and the brilliant development of Vietnam, Minister Mahmoud Thabit Kombo said he understood more clearly the great value of Ho Chi Minh's ideology and the wise path chosen by the Communist Party of Vietnam; and was impressed by General Secretary To Lam's strong message at the Anniversary Ceremony about Vietnam's future development and Vietnam's responsible commitments to the international community.

On this occasion, Minister Mahmoud Thabit Kombo respectfully conveyed the warmest regards and invitation of Ms. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the Revolutionary Party, President of the Republic of Tanzania to the leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam to soon visit Tanzania.

Highly agreeing with the proposals and cooperation orientations raised by the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of Tanzania hopes that more Vietnamese enterprises will continue to explore investment cooperation opportunities in Tanzania, especially in the agricultural sector, including the production and processing of cashew nuts and agricultural products, taking advantage of Tanzania's gateway position to access markets in East African countries.

Minister Mahmoud Thabit Kombo pledged to promote negotiations and soon sign the Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement, the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement and specialized cooperation documents to create favorable legal conditions for cooperation between the two countries.
