On the afternoon of January 15, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his wife Le Thi Bich Tran and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation left Hanoi for official visits to Poland and the Czech Republic, to attend the 55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland and to hold bilateral meetings in Switzerland.
The working trip will take place from January 15 to 23, at the invitation of Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland Donald Tusk, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala, and Founder and Executive Chairman of WEF Klaus Schwab.
The official delegation accompanying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife on the working trip included: Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen; Minister, Head of the Government Office Tran Van Son; Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung; Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien; Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat; Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son; Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung; Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan; Chairman of the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises Nguyen Hoang Anh; Deputy Minister of National Defense Le Huy Vinh; Deputy Minister of Public Security Le Van Tuyen; Deputy Head of the Central Inspection Commission Hoang Van Tra.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Poland Ha Hoang Hai, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Duong Hoai Nam, Vietnamese Ambassador to Switzerland Phung The Long, Ambassador Mai Phan Dung - Head of the Vietnamese Delegation in Geneva, Switzerland and leaders of several ministries, branches, agencies and localities joined the working delegation.
The official visit to Poland and the Czech Republic and the attendance at the WEF Conference in Switzerland by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is of great significance in the context of Vietnam and the two countries of Poland and the Czech Republic celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1950 - 2025). This is the first official visit by a Vietnamese Prime Minister to Poland after 15 years and to the Czech Republic after 6 years; aiming to create a breakthrough in raising the level of relations with the two countries, thereby promoting and deepening relations with the Central Eastern Europe region and the EU.
The visit and work affirmed Vietnam's consistent policy of always attaching importance to and wishing to consolidate and promote political trust, bringing the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Poland, the Czech Republic and Switzerland to continue to deepen, be substantive, effective, and suitable to the new situation, including discussions to elevate the relationship between Vietnam and the countries to a higher level: Strengthening cooperation in all fields of politics - diplomacy, defense - security, economy - trade - investment, education - training, culture - sports - tourism, local cooperation, people-to-people exchange, agriculture, environment, health, information technology and communications, justice, development cooperation, labor cooperation, etc.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister’s trip to attend the WEF Davos Conference is a multilateral foreign activity that opens a very exciting year of multilateral foreign affairs for Vietnam. This is also the second consecutive year that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has attended WEF Davos and the fourth time he has attended WEF Conferences as Prime Minister.
The fact that WEF has repeatedly invited the Prime Minister to attend the WEF Global Conference shows Vietnam's increasing role, position and international prestige. At this WEF, the Prime Minister will convey important messages about Vietnam's determination, aspirations and vision towards strategic development goals in the next 20 years; discuss practical topics related to the country's current development requirements, especially the implementation of Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation; promptly grasp the development trends of the times, the flows that are shaping the smart era, thereby building mechanisms, policies and measures to take advantage of opportunities and minimize negative impacts from new trends.
The working trip continues to implement the Party's foreign policy as defined in the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and Directive 25-CT/TW dated August 8, 2018 of the Secretariat on promoting and elevating multilateral diplomacy, implementing Conclusion 12-KL/TW dated August 12, 2021 of the Politburo on overseas Vietnamese affairs in the new situation; conveying the message of Vietnam's determination and aspiration to enter a new era of development, the era of national growth.
