On the afternoon of November 18 local time (evening of the same day Hanoi time), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived at Houari Boumediene International Airport in Alger, beginning an official visit to Algeria from November 18 to 20 at the invitation of Prime Minister of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Sifi Ghrieb.

This is the first visit of the Prime Minister of Vietnam to Algeria after 10 years, since 2015.

When Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh arrived at the position of honor, the Vietnamese National Anthem was played. After that, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb invited Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to inspect the guard of honor. The two Prime Ministers introduced the Algerian and Vietnamese delegations attending the welcoming ceremony. At the end of the welcoming ceremony, after a brief exchange between the two Prime Ministers, the Algerian Prime Minister saw Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh off at the parking lot.
It is expected that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will hold official talks with the Prime Minister of Algeria and meet with senior leaders of this country.

Although Vietnam and Algeria are geographically far apart, they have had a long-standing relationship, especially in the process of fighting together to gain and protect the national independence of each country. After more than 60 years, the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Algeria has been constantly consolidated and developed well in many fields.
The trusted political and diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Algeria are promoted through the exchange of high-level delegations between the two countries. Algeria is currently one of Vietnam's important trade partners in Africa. In terms of investment, the most prominent is the cooperation project between large enterprises of Vietnam and Algeria in the field of oil and gas exploration and exploitation.

Defense and security cooperation has always been maintained. Cooperation in the fields of culture, sports, etc. has always been strengthened by the two countries. In Algeria, hundreds of Vietnamese martial arts clubs have been developed with tens of thousands of practitioners in dozens of provinces and cities. The Vietnamese community in Algeria currently has about 2,000 people.
Although the room for cooperation between Vietnam and Algeria is still very large, especially when each side can be a gateway for the other to expand its market in the regions, due to geographical distance, the two sides have not fully exploited it, especially in the fields of trade and investment, especially in the fields where Vietnam and Algeria have strengths and needs, and can complement each other, such as energy, oil and gas, agriculture, mining, food processing and manufacturing industries...
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to Algeria this time is of great significance in promoting the cooperative relationship between the two countries to a new height, opening an era of extensive and dynamic cooperation; expected to contribute to consolidating the trustworthy political relationship, promoting and creating new momentum for economic, trade and investment cooperation and enhancing people-to-people connections between the two countries in the new development period.
