Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his wife pay an official visit to Vietnam

According to the announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on August 23, at the invitation of Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong and his wife will pay an official visit to Vietnam from August 27 to 29.

The visit took place in the context of the Vietnam - Singapore Strategic Partnership developing well in all fields, especially economy , and is an important and meaningful highlight on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and 10 years of the Vietnam - Singapore Strategic Partnership.

Political cooperation between the two countries has been effectively implemented with the frequency of high-level delegation exchanges and increased bilateral contacts, especially the successful visit to Singapore (February 2023) by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh with many specific and practical results.

Recently, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son paid an official visit to Singapore and attended the ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam - Singapore Strategic Partnership (July 2023).

Singapore is Vietnam's leading economic partner in the region. The two countries are always among each other's 15 largest trading partners, with Vietnam being Singapore's 12th largest trading partner and Singapore being Vietnam's 15th largest trading partner.

Two-way trade turnover between the two countries is expected to reach nearly 10 billion USD in 2022. Singapore maintains its leading position in ASEAN and ranks 2nd out of 143 countries and territories investing in Vietnam with 3,274 valid projects and a total registered capital of 73.5 billion USD. Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIPs) are symbols of economic cooperation between the two countries with 14 VSIPs in 10 provinces and cities in Vietnam.

Cooperation between the two countries in the fields of security, defense, education, training, innovation, people-to-people exchange, etc. have all been promoted.

During Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's recent visit to Singapore, the two countries established a Digital Economy-Green Economy Partnership, creating a premise to promote cooperation in new fields, towards green and sustainable development.

Vietnam and Singapore are both important members with a voice in ASEAN, closely coordinating their stances at international and regional forums, especially at ASEAN and the United Nations.
