Promoting cooperation in training and fostering officials between Vietnam and Indonesia

At the reception, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Nguyen Xuan Thang welcomed and emphasized that the visit to Vietnam, including the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics by the LEMHANNAS delegation, is extremely meaningful in the context of Vietnam and Indonesia celebrating the 80th anniversary of National Day and the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025, creating cooperation opportunities to continue affirming and promoting the new Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established by General Secretary To Lam and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in March 2025.

Introducing the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics to the LEMHANNAS delegation, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang said that the Academy trains and fosters key officials for the Central and local levels of Vietnam, a mission similar to LEMHANNAS.

LEMHANNAS President Ace Hasan Syadzily said the purpose of the visit and work with the Academy was to exchange views and learn about the transformation process of Vietnam's education system to consult on building high-quality human resources to serve Indonesia's development goals until 2045.

LEMHANNAS President Ace Hasan Syadzily informed that LEMHANNAS is a national strategic training agency under the President of Indonesia, with the mission of training and preparing a generation of national leaders with a comprehensive, integrated and professional vision. LEMHANNAS students participating in the national leadership capacity building program who visited the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics included senior military officers, police, government officials and businessmen.

The President of the LEMHANNAS Academy emphasized that Indonesia highly appreciates Vietnam's great economic achievements and hopes that the two countries will strengthen cooperation to create high-quality human resources.

Informing the LEMHANNAS delegation, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Nguyen Xuan Thang said that Vietnam is preparing for the 14th National Party Congress, including the formulation of strategic policies. In the strategic policies for the new development period, the Party and State of Vietnam determined to build a modern national education system, on par with the region and the world. This is new and very important content, in the context that Vietnam is implementing many transformations such as digital transformation, green transformation, especially transformation in the structure and quality of human resources.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang emphasized that the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam has issued a resolution on education development according to the motto of open, modern, connected education and using output results to evaluate quality. For higher education, the focus is on building a flexible labor market based on science and technology.

To concretize cooperation in training and fostering cadres between the two countries and the two Academies, the Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics proposed assigning the international cooperation agencies of the two Academies to develop a priority cooperation framework and prepare to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU). The key contents will include cooperation in training, research and policy dialogue, expert exchange and publication exchange.

LEMHANNAS President Ace Hasan Syadzily agreed with this proposal and wished to promote more specific cooperation, including student exchanges, policy research, organizing working visits... These activities will contribute to enhancing understanding of the two countries' public governance models, foreign policy planning and regional security governance.

*After the reception, the two delegations from the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and the National Self-Reliance Academy (LEMHANNAS), Republic of Indonesia had a discussion and worked on the process of transforming Vietnam's education system to build high-quality human resources to serve the development goals until 2045; experiences, policies, and cooperation models in training and developing high-quality human resources.
