The workshop is one of the outstanding activities within the framework of Vietnam International Digital Week 2025 (VIDW-2025) to promote policy dialogue, share experiences and seek solutions to deploy sustainable telecommunications infrastructure, resilient to natural disaster risks, meeting the development requirements of digital government, digital economy and digital society in the coming period.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Anh Cuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Telecommunications ( Ministry of Science and Technology ) shared that Vietnam is making efforts to build a modern, safe, energy-saving and environmentally friendly telecommunications infrastructure.

The workshop is an opportunity for domestic and international management agencies, experts and businesses to share experiences, promote cooperation, contribute to perfecting policies and create a foundation for sustainable development of the digital economy and digital society."
Mr. Nguyen Anh Cuong also thanked international organizations, businesses and experts who have accompanied Vietnam in the process of developing digital infrastructure, and affirmed the commitment of the Ministry of Science and Technology to continue supporting and creating a favorable environment for innovation and technology investment in the telecommunications sector.
The Regional Workshop on Sustainable Telecommunications Infrastructure Development took place with two main discussion sessions and one open discussion session, focusing on in-depth discussions on policies, solutions and trends for sustainable digital infrastructure development. Specifically, in the first session, speakers focused on discussing policies, solutions and trends for digital infrastructure development in the context of globalization and strong digital transformation.

Mr. Vu Ngoc Duong, Deputy Head of Infrastructure Development Department, Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Science and Technology presented a paper.
In the discussion on "Policies and solutions for sustainable digital infrastructure development in Vietnam", Mr. Vu Ngoc Duong, Deputy Head of Infrastructure Development Department (Telecommunications Department, Ministry of Science and Technology) emphasized the need to integrate sustainability factors in planning, investing and operating telecommunications networks.

World Bank representative, Mr. Thomas Chalumeau delivered a speech.
Also at the Workshop, World Bank representative, Mr. Thomas Chalumeau, Head of the Global Broadband Connectivity Group, shared the trend of sustainable telecommunications infrastructure development in the world, as well as public-private partnership models in expanding connectivity networks in developing countries.
The second discussion session revolved around technology solutions and practical implementation models from domestic and international telecommunications enterprises.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Deputy Head of Technology Department (VNPT), presented a paper on digital infrastructure development with a focus on resilience and adaptability to risks.

Representative of Huawei Group, Mr. Chen Jie presented a speech.
Representative of Huawei Group, Mr. Chen Jie, Director of Optical Fiber Technology Development, shared solutions to utilize optical fiber infrastructure to promote digital economic growth.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Director of Infrastructure Development Center (FPT Telecom) presented a speech.
Adding a practical perspective, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Director of Infrastructure Development Center (FPT Telecom), introduced experience in improving the sustainability and adaptability of telecommunications systems in the face of challenges and fluctuations.
In particular, the open discussion session with the participation of Mr. Mohamed Wahish, Investment Director (IFC – World Bank) and international experts brought many new perspectives on the model of sustainable telecommunications infrastructure expansion, promoting public-private cooperation in investment and development in this field.
The workshop "Sustainable Telecommunications Infrastructure" created an important forum for management agencies, experts and businesses to exchange policies, share initiatives and propose new technology solutions.
The discussion contents not only contribute to perfecting the national policy framework on telecommunications infrastructure, but also open up opportunities for cooperation and investment between Vietnamese and international enterprises, towards a sustainable, safe and inclusive digital future.
