The Vietnam Trade Office in Singapore said that the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has started to deploy an e-Service platform to publish and look up laboratory test results for imported fresh/chilled fruits and vegetables.
This e-Services platform is aimed at serving Singapore importers who need to look up the results of Customs laboratory tests on their imported fresh/chilled fruit and vegetables shipments. The service will be available from 1 May.
Singapore importers will have a three-month transition period to prepare for participation in the platform. During this period, all laboratory test results will continue to be communicated to importers through the traditional method of phone calls or text messages.
After the transition period, this notification method will stop from August 1. For unsatisfactory laboratory test results, importers will continue to be notified by phone about the results and the product destruction process.
The hotline, SFA information, and electronic service system will help Singaporean importers access services through Singpass and Corppass. Singaporean businesses can only look up their own results, but not information from other accounts.
Foreign enterprises, including Vietnamese enterprises, if interested in the inspection results will have to go through the importer in Singapore who directly imports the shipment.
According to the Vietnam Trade Office in Singapore, the SFA's issuance of guidelines for using the e-Service platform is a positive move to encourage Singaporean businesses in general and importers in particular to increase the use of digital platforms/applications of competent authorities.
The Vietnam Trade Office in Singapore recommends that Vietnamese enterprises exporting fresh/chilled fruits and vegetables to Singapore update these new regulations, proactively connect and cooperate with Singaporean partners to promptly grasp the laboratory test results for their export shipments and prepare handling plans when requested.
