Digital Week is an annual international event, bringing together approximately 800 domestic and international delegates, including ministerial-level leaders, heads of delegations from ASEAN countries, strategic partners such as the United States, South Korea, Australia, and leaders from international organizations such as the United Nations (UN), the World Bank (WB), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the European Union (EU), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and the Asia- Pacific Telecommunication Community (APT).
This year's event emphasizes strategies, policies, and legal frameworks to ensure the safe, transparent, and responsible development and governance of AI. Initiated in 2019, Vietnam's International Digital Week has become one of the most prestigious annual forums on digital transformation in the region. In 2025, under the auspices of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the event continues to affirm its role as a strategic networking platform, bringing together policymakers, international organizations, experts, and leading technology companies.

On the morning of October 27th, a ministerial-level roundtable conference on the theme of "Artificial Intelligence Governance" took place. The conference aimed to create a high-level forum for stakeholders to share experiences, initiatives, and policies on responsible AI governance. The conference will contribute to affirming Vietnam's proactive role, initiatives, and commitment to international cooperation in science , technology, innovation, and digital transformation.
In his opening remarks at the conference, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized that the sustainable development of AI must be based on four pillars: strong AI institutions, modern AI infrastructure, AI talent, and a human-centered AI culture. This conference is not only a policy dialogue, but also a forum for trust and cooperation, where we can together share and shape AI institutions in the region and globally.

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung also affirmed the need to ensure a balance between innovation and control, global and national infrastructure, open and protected data, and between general-purpose and specialized AI. Accordingly, Vietnam is committed to developing AI in a human-centered, open, secure, sovereign , cooperative, inclusive, and sustainable manner. Vietnam will promote international cooperation to share knowledge and values, foster long-term growth, and develop open-source AI to enhance transparency, cooperation, and innovation, while ensuring an open-source AI ecosystem that empowers small nations and startups to develop and master advanced technologies.

In a video address shown at the event, Amandeep Singh Gill, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Technology, stated that he visited Vietnam in early 2025 and witnessed firsthand Vietnam's commitment to building a people-centered digital economy. Amandeep Singh Gill emphasized the need to develop AI for the benefit of humanity.
Accordingly, in August 2025, the United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution establishing an independent International Scientific Commission on AI and a Global Dialogue on AI Governance within the United Nations. For the first time, all 193 member states agreed to create truly inclusive mechanisms to guide the development of AI for the common good.

Within the framework of the event, conferences, workshops, and forums will be held, focusing on six key themes: 5G, digital infrastructure, AI, digital transformation, digital human resources, and digital technology businesses. Specifically: the Vietnam-European Union Digital Cooperation Forum; the Workshop on Sustainable Telecommunications Infrastructure Development; the ASEAN Conference on 5G; the Regional Workshop on AI-Based Digital Transformation... Simultaneously, there will be business networking activities, creating opportunities for participating entities to seek cooperation and investment opportunities.
