Promoting AI application in education and training - Part 3: Mobilizing all resources to develop AI

To carry out the task of "Comprehensive digital transformation, popularization and strong application of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in education and training" as required by Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW dated August 22, 2025 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development, policy solutions and self-efforts of educational institutions are not enough, but also require the comprehensive mobilization of many resources in society.

Promoting socialized investment in education

As one of the pioneers in educational innovation in Vietnam, KDI Education has been accompanying high schools for many years in implementing STEM education programs and digital citizenship skills. The implementation process at schools helps the unit realize that the requirements for digital transformation and information technology application cannot be successful if only relying on educational programs.

From that awareness, KDI Education has "joined hands" comprehensively with educational institutions to apply technology in depth, achieving real results. In 2024, the enterprise cooperated with the University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University) to organize training on artificial AI for teachers of high schools. In addition, the AI Hackathon competition with the theme "Protecting the green planet" organized by KDI Education in coordination with the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City is a large-scale playground on AI for high school students in Ho Chi Minh City, aiming to help students access modern AI technology, thereby developing thinking ability and AI application skills to create practical solutions.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Trung, Deputy General Director of KDI Education, said: “Training programs and competitions on AI aim to enhance the experience of teachers and students in the fields of STEM and AI, contributing to concretizing the strategic vision of Vietnam's education and training in the digital age, which is to help students develop comprehensively in skills, knowledge, creative thinking, and the ability to integrate internationally.”

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hai Quan, Permanent Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, only when the "three-house" linkage model including the State - schools - enterprises together create, cooperate and share, will it create a new development space for the education and training sector. At the same time, it will create a driving force for rapid and sustainable growth based on the pillars of talent, science and technology, innovation and digital transformation. Accordingly, the State plays a creative role; schools play the role of training, scientific research and innovation centers; enterprises play the role of practice places, propose skill needs and also co-invest in the training process.

Ms. Nguyen Phuong Lan, General Director of EMG Education Group, shared that in the context of limited facilities in general schools, the policy of the State and the people working together is the right direction, maximizing resources to bring the best educational results to students. However, businesses need a complete, clear, public, transparent legal corridor, expressed through legal documents, creating a fair "playing field" for participating units, minimizing the situation of group interests and unhealthy competition.

Agreeing with the above views, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Van Hieu stated that the policy of socializing education has been playing an important role in investment, development and quality improvement policies for education. In particular, promoting and effectively utilizing social resources such as organizations, businesses, partners and philanthropists is necessary. However, contributions are not only in the form of money but can be made through many other methods, such as contributing intelligence, experience, human resources, sponsoring teaching equipment, etc.

Linked triangle model

Associate Professor Dr. Tran Cao Vinh, Vice President of Vietnam National University (VNU-HCM), said that VNU-HCM has just signed extensive cooperation agreements with dozens of domestic and international enterprises and technology corporations. This cooperation has brought hundreds of billions of VND to VNU-HCM to develop high-quality human resources through training, internship, coaching and student recruitment programs; promote research and technology transfer; apply digital transformation, develop digital platforms and technologies in business administration, production and service provision; innovate and start-up, develop ecosystems in product and service innovation; develop sustainable development, be socially responsible, enhance the role of enterprises in educational, environmental and community initiatives...

In particular, the Center for Artificial Intelligence Education and Training under VNU-HCM was established in 2021 with a sponsorship of more than 32 billion VND from the Inter-Pacific Group, and is the first center in the South to implement AI training programs, robotics technology and exhibitions of AI solutions. The center implements AI education programs with quality assessed by a prestigious expert council. This is also an important part of the national project directed by VNU-HCM, with the goal of building an AI education ecosystem. In parallel with providing a foundation of knowledge about AI for high school students (primary, middle school, high school) and university and college students, the center also organizes a number of free seminars and talks for those interested in the field of science and technology in the community.
