In an interview with the press before the team's most recent training session, young striker Nguyen Dinh Bac shared about the preparation process of the Vietnam U22 team for the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship.
The striker of Hanoi Police Club emphasized the spirit of healthy competition within the team and personal determination after a long time off due to injury.
“Competition helps the whole team, whoever performs well will be selected. Each player must try their best to be on the final list,” Dinh Bac affirmed.
Dinh Bac has just returned from injury and said he needs to try harder than his teammates to regain his form: "My goal is to always want to contribute to the flag and the shirt, so I have to try really hard.
I need to try harder because I have had a long injury break. Only by trying my best can I be included in the final list and be able to play."
Evaluating the current training period, Dinh Bac said that the two recent friendly matches with U23 Chinese Taipei brought a lot of value, helping the whole team strengthen their cohesion and test their playing style before the official tournament.
“The two friendly matches with U23 Chinese Taipei helped the whole team connect better before the U23 Southeast Asian tournament. During the training sessions, coach Kim and the coaching staff always conveyed the fighting spirit and training awareness so that the whole team could maintain the best quality,” said Dinh Bac.
The young striker of the Hanoi Police Club also emphasized that coach Kim Sang-sik always promotes a fierce and enthusiastic competitive spirit, even in friendly matches.
In terms of technical skills, the coaching staff focuses on ball control and passing skills - key factors to help the team operate effectively.
Currently, U22 Vietnam is gradually improving in terms of physical strength, technical tactics and spirit, aiming to successfully defend the throne at the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship.
According to plan, the U22 Vietnam team will continue to practice in Ho Chi Minh City until July 12, then move to Indonesia on the morning of July 14.
