Earlier, on the morning of May 29, a serious landslide occurred on the bank of Canal 28 (Hau Thanh Commune, Cai Be District), causing a section of inter-commune road of more than 40m to collapse into the canal, cutting off traffic. Currently, a section of road nearly 50m long is sinking, with the risk of further landslides.
Immediately after the incident, local authorities and functional agencies fenced off and blocked off the dangerous area; at the same time, developed a plan to overcome the incident.
Previously, the People's Committee of Tien Giang province had a plan to implement the Project to handle urgent landslides on Cai Be River (canal 28), with a total investment of more than 249 billion VND, the embankment length is about 2.67km, including 11 sections.
* On the same day, a section of the dike along the Truong Dinh River (Cai Tom River side) in Truong Dinh Hamlet, Quoi An Commune, Vung Liem District, Vinh Long Province also experienced a landslide. The landslide damaged a section of the side road about 40m long, encroaching 6m inland.
Mr. Le Van Tham, Chief of Office of Vung Liem District People's Committee, said that the district's functional agencies urgently went to inspect the scene and deployed temporary measures to reinforce against overflow, build barriers, and traffic signs in dangerous landslide areas, and at the same time reported to Vung Liem District People's Committee for urgent solutions.
