On the afternoon of June 9, in Hanoi, Associate Professor, Doctor, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong chaired the Ceremony to announce and award the appointment decision. Accordingly, in Decision No. 1718/QD-BVHTTDL, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism decided to recognize the position of Director of the Vietnam National Academy of Music for Doctor, People's Artist Do Quoc Hung - Deputy Director in charge of the Academy.
Sharing after the announcement of the appointment decision, Doctor, People's Artist Do Quoc Hung was moved: “This is a very special day for me. When I received information about the announcement ceremony, I was really excited. This feeling is hard to describe - it is both a great honor and a heavy responsibility. But because of that, I feel that I need to try harder.”
Before officially becoming the Director of the Vietnam National Academy of Music, Dr. People's Artist Do Quoc Hung spent 2 years as Deputy Director, of which more than one year was Deputy Director in charge. He has made his mark proving his management ability, sense of responsibility and dedication to his career of top-notch music training during this period.

Doctor, People's Artist Do Quoc Hung was born in 1970 in Dong Anh ( Hanoi ), and started entering the Hanoi Conservatory of Music - the predecessor of the Vietnam National Academy of Music - in 1991. From intermediate to university, postgraduate and then successfully defending his doctoral thesis in music at this very school, he has devoted more than 3 decades of studying, teaching, performing and contributing to the largest music training cradle in the country.
As one of the leading bass singers in Vietnam, People's Artist Do Quoc Hung won First Prize in the National Chamber Singing - Musical Competition in 2000, received the Golden Cup at the Pyongyang Spring International Music Festival in 2004 and has had many international performance experiences in Germany, North Korea, Russia...
He was invited to stay as an artist at the Hannover Opera House (Germany) after training and performing there in 1998, but chose to return to Vietnam to continue his teaching career and contribute to the country's arts.
Not only stopping at performing, People's Artist Do Quoc Hung is also particularly interested in scientific research. The book "Training opera singers in Vietnam" - the result of the research published from his doctoral thesis - is one of the rare academic documents in this field in Vietnam. In the work, he proposed many methods of combining European classical singing techniques with traditional musical elements such as Cheo and Ca Tru - which he has devotedly researched, practiced and taught for many years.
Before becoming Deputy Director and now Director of the Vietnam National Academy of Music, Dr. People's Artist Do Quoc Hung held the position of Deputy Director and then Director of the Vocal Music Department - one of the key departments of the Academy. Under his leadership, the Vocal Music Department has made remarkable progress in terms of professional quality, teaching staff and training scale.
“I am fortunate to work with a united and dedicated team,” People’s Artist Do Quoc Hung shared. “When I was in the Vocal Music Department, we always aimed to standardize the team, improve the qualifications of lecturers, and promote research and performance in parallel.” Currently, the department has 6 lecturers who have successfully defended their PhD theses, along with many Meritorious Artists – many of whom were his students. Many of People’s Artist Do Quoc Hung’s students have now become famous, such as Meritorious Artist Hoang Tung, Meritorious Artist Truong Bac, singer Quang Ha, etc.

It is the spirit of "putting the collective first" and being flexible in management that helps Dr. People's Artist Do Quoc Hung succeed in managing a collective with many strong personalities in the art world.
In his new position, People's Artist Do Quoc Hung clearly identified the top priorities: "We are an art training environment, so training is always the number one task. Then there is performance - an important and inseparable part, helping to connect practice with theory, connecting artists with the public." He said that the lecturers of the Vietnam National Academy of Music are all talented artists, who are also the core force in major art programs. Therefore, promoting the capacity of the team and fostering a creative environment are the consistent goals in the development orientation of the Academy.
“We hope that the Academy will not only be a place for top-notch training, but also a place to nurture creativity, a launching pad for young talents, and a center for international connection and cooperation in music while still maintaining national identity,” he said.
Vietnam National Academy of Music – the largest music training center in the country – is the place that has witnessed the comprehensive growth of Doctor, People's Artist Do Quoc Hung, from a young student to a researcher, performing artist, teacher, and now the helmsman of the very "house" that nurtured him.
“For over 30 years, I have always worked with all my heart and soul. I have tried my best to complete any assigned tasks – big or small. Now, I have more reason to contribute, because it is not only a responsibility, but also something I truly love and believe in,” People’s Artist Do Quoc Hung shared.
