(HG) - Many farmers whose rice is in the harvest stage in the province said that the current price for renting a rice cutter is from 400,000 to 450,000 VND/cong (1 cong 1,300m2) and this price depends on the amount of rice that has fallen and the soft or hard ground conditions in the field; if the rice has fallen too much and the ground conditions are difficult to walk on, the price may increase. According to farmers, under normal conditions, the price for renting a cutter only fluctuates from 350,000 to 380,000 VND/cong; however, due to the recent storms and whirlwinds, many areas of Summer-Autumn rice in the harvest stage have fallen, making it difficult to cut and reducing productivity significantly.

Many areas of summer-autumn rice were knocked down due to storms and rains, making harvesting difficult, thereby increasing the cost of cutting.

According to statistics from the provincial agricultural sector, farmers in the province have harvested nearly 60,000 hectares out of a total of 75,207 hectares of summer-autumn rice that have been sown. The remaining unharvested summer-autumn rice areas are concentrated in Phung Hiep district (about 5,400 hectares), Long My town (about 4,100 hectares) and Long My district (about 6,300 hectares). As of August 1, low pressure caused by storms No. 1 and No. 2 affected 3,869 hectares of summer-autumn rice during the harvest period; of which 2,152 hectares were damaged at a rate of 10-20%; 1,373 hectares were damaged at 40-60% and 343 hectares were damaged at 80-90%.
