Searching for new musical compositions that have a widespread impact on the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector

On November 13, in Hanoi, the Department of Performing Arts in coordination with the Vietnam Musicians Association organized the launching ceremony of the Songwriting Contest on the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong affirmed: Music always has a special power - touching the heart, arousing pride and connecting people. A good song can become a spiritual symbol, living forever, resounding in emulation movements, festivals or on stages across the country.

“For that reason, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism launched the Songwriting Contest about the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector, with the desire to find new works of high artistic value and influence, praising the faith, love for the profession and the desire to contribute of the team of cadres, civil servants, artists, athletes and workers in the whole sector” - Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong emphasized.

The contest is also an opportunity to inspire creativity among artists, create songs that accompany the industry, and contribute to spreading the message: "Culture is the spiritual foundation of society, both the goal and the driving force of the country's sustainable development".

According to the Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the contest is not only an artistic playground, but also a journey of connecting emotions, arousing the pride and dedication of those who love art and the industry. From the contest, there will be more good, emotional songs, becoming the common voice of the whole industry, a source of spiritual encouragement for generations of cadres, artists and athletes today and tomorrow.

The Ministry is committed to organizing a fair, transparent, and serious competition, with the participation of prestigious musicians and experts in the Jury, in order to select truly worthy works. The winning songs will be widely disseminated throughout the industry, staged and performed in major events, festivals, and art programs, contributing to spreading the spirit of "Solidarity - Creativity - Development".

Attending the launching ceremony, Major General, Musician Duc Trinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Musicians Association, said: For a long time, musicians have composed many musical works about various fields and professions, but this is the first time they have had the opportunity to participate in a launching ceremony to compose about their own profession, which is the cultural sector. This is a difficult, meaningful and glorious task.

Accordingly, professional and non-professional musicians who are Vietnamese citizens or foreigners living, working, studying and working in Vietnam can submit songs in the genres of chamber music, light music, contemporary folk, jazz, rock, pop, choir, and solo. The Organizing Committee does not limit the number of works submitted by authors or groups of authors.

Songs need to express content praising the tradition, role and contribution of the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector in the cause of national development; honoring national cultural values, sports spirit, sustainable tourism, modern and integrated Vietnamese people; arousing pride, inspiration, creativity and innovation in the whole sector.

The song submitted to the contest must have a beautiful melody, a neat structure, a new and creative style; clear Vietnamese lyrics; showing the harmony between music and lyrics, easy to remember, easy to memorize. The Vietnamese music and lyrics of the song must be typed or handwritten clearly on A4 paper, and sent with a CD of the recorded song (if available). In addition, the song entered into the contest must be a new composition, not previously entered into any contest, and not previously published in any form.

The Organizing Committee will receive entries from November 13 to December 15. Entries should be sent to the Department of Performing Arts, 32 Nguyen Thai Hoc, Ba Dinh Ward, Hanoi. On the envelope/email title/CD cover, clearly state: "Entries for the songwriting contest on the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector" and the author's name.

After the deadline for receiving entries, the Selection Council will review, evaluate and select the 15 most typical songs to send to the units under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Department of Culture and Sports of provinces/cities to organize evaluation and voting. The Selection Council will base on the voting results of the units to decide the structure and ranking of the final awards of the contest.

The prize structure includes: 1 First prize (worth 50,000,000 VND); 2 Second prizes (worth 25,000,000 VND), 3 Third prizes (worth 15,000,000 VND), 5 Consolation prizes (worth 10,000,000 VND).

The competition's closing and award ceremony is expected to be held on December 31, 2025 in Hanoi.
