Body of 7th grade student who drowned and went missing in Hue found

On the afternoon of April 17, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Suong, Chairwoman of Vinh Thanh Commune People's Committee (Phu Vang District, Hue City), said that rescuers had found the body of PNM (residing in Thuy Tan Commune, Huong Thuy Town, Hue City) who drowned while swimming in the sea.

Accordingly, M.'s body was found at noon, after 2 days of mobilizing forces to search all over the coast of Vinh Thanh commune.

M.'s body was handed over by the authorities and returned to his family for funeral arrangements.

Previously, on the afternoon of April 15, M. (a 7th grade student at Thuy Tan Primary and Secondary School) and a group of friends went to the beach in Vinh Thanh commune (Phu Vang district, Hue city) to swim and have fun.

At this time, the sea in Vinh Thanh commune was having big waves. While swimming with a group of friends, M. drowned and was swept away by the waves and went missing.

After discovering the incident, Hue City's rescue force mobilized forces to search for M.. The rescue units used flycams and personnel to check along the coast of Vinh Thanh commune to find M.. By noon on April 17, the body was found.

Hue has more than 120km of coastline. Every summer, the local Departmentof Education and Training issues notices to raise awareness among parents and students to prevent drowning in children.
