Hackers stole personal information of millions of potential customers from luxury brands Gucci, Balenciaga and Alexander McQueen in an attack on French parent company Kering, the BBC reported on September 15.

Kering confirmed the breach in a statement that did not name the affected brands, saying it discovered in June 2025 that a third party had temporarily gained unauthorized access to its systems and accessed some limited customer data from some brands.

According to the BBC, the stolen customer data included names, email addresses, phone numbers, addresses and total amounts spent at the brands' stores.

Kering said no financial information, such as credit card or bank account numbers, was stolen.

The hacker group, calling itself "Shiny Hunters," claims to have obtained data related to 7.4 million email addresses.

Kering said its brands immediately reported the incident to the authorities and informed customers in accordance with local regulations. The group did not say which countries were affected by the attack.

Such attacks are affecting luxury brands and retailers this year.

Violations have also occurred at Richemont's Cartier and several LVMH brands.

In July 2025, the personal data protection authority of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (China) said it was investigating a data leak affecting about 419,000 customers of the Louis Vuitton brand owned by LVMH./.
