Sharing with VietNamNet on the morning of June 3, Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, said that in the near future, 3 new public high schools in the capital will come into operation and many new classrooms will be built.
"Therefore, the Admissions Council of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has decided to increase the rate of students entering grade 10 of public schools this year. Last year, the number of students entering grade 10 of public high schools in Hanoi was about 61%, this year we have increased it to 64%, not to mention the 3 high schools that the Department is inspecting and will grant operating licenses," said Mr. Cuong.
These three new schools are Phuc Thinh High School (Dong Anh district), Do Muoi High School (Hoang Mai district) and a high school in Cau Giay district.
According to Mr. Cuong, for each of these high schools, the Department of Education and Training will try to assign a quota of 10-15 classes, with at least 450 students per school. Thus, the quota for public 10th grade in Hanoi this year will increase by about 1,500 to 1,700 students.
Mr. Cuong said that in the coming time, the Department of Education and Training will assign additional 10th grade enrollment quotas to these public high schools. The Department will consider the option of "overflowing" enrollment (i.e. enrolling students not based on enrollment areas - PV) after the students have their 10th grade exam scores. However, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will also set a specific standard score, not taking all registrations, to ensure input quality.
“Currently, the number of students admitted to Hanoi public grade 10 in 2025 is 64%, adding the quota for these schools will certainly exceed the rate. This will contribute to meeting the needs and aspirations of students and parents,” said Mr. Cuong.

In addition, the head of Hanoi'seducation sector said that this year's 10th grade exam in Hanoi will be within the scope of the program, the knowledge students learn, and will have the structure and format as announced by the Department of Education and Training.
At the conference on guidelines for the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year held this morning, June 3, Mr. Cuong also noted that cheating in exams is "multi-faceted", so hallway supervisors and security guards must closely monitor and supervise. "AI technology is now very advanced and modern, and students can access it immediately with just one minute of carelessness," Mr. Cuong noted, along with the issue of violating exam regulations related to the use of phones in the exam area.
He requested that all examination sites must thoroughly enforce the rule that students are not allowed to bring cell phones into the examination room. If a candidate accidentally brings a cell phone into the examination room, it must be sealed and placed in a designated area of the examination site.

The Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training also noted that the steps should not create pressure or stress for students. “We need to do everything possible to ensure that students have the knowledge and mindset to enter the 10th grade exam in the best possible way,” said Mr. Cuong.
The entrance exam for non-specialized public grade 10 for the 2025-2026 school year will be held on June 7 and 8; the specialized exam will be held on June 9, 2025.
This year, the whole city of Hanoi has 115,951 candidates registered to take the exam (including 102,860 non-specialized public candidates and 13,091 specialized candidates).
Hanoi arranged 4,411 examination rooms and 201 examination sites in 30 districts, towns and cities.
Mr. Cuong said that the Hanoi Department of Education and Training also mobilized 15,173 officials, teachers, staff, and police to participate in organizing exam supervision at exam sites and more than 2,000 officials and teachers to participate in exam marking.
