Multimedia students produce media products at the studio at UMT University.
With over 15 years of experience in the field of public relations and integrated marketing, Dr. Ly Le Tuong Minh has held the role of agency executive director (communications company), leading many national and regional communication projects, with extensive academic experience in management and communication in the United States, Australia, and Canada.
Media has been a "hot" field of study in recent years. Short 3-6 month courses on livestreaming, graphic design, content creation... are of interest to many people. Can short-term vocational training shorten the roadmap and bring faster results compared to college or university?
- Knowing how to use tools is different from understanding the whole creative and working process. Studying Communication or Multimedia Communication (MMC) will help learners go through the whole process, from research, idea creation, planning, to implementation and evaluation. The basic difference is in thinking - the factor that helps the working process to be more complete, professional, universal and sustainable.
Compared to the commitment to "skill" after short-term courses, what are the output standards of the Communication industry at university level?
- There are three main contents: assessment capacity, planning and execution capacity. First, students of the TDDPT major at UMT are trained to understand how a communication campaign is implemented, why it succeeds or fails, analyze trends, and measure the campaign.
The second is the ability to plan. To do this, you must first research the market, target audience, and choose the optimal strategy for each audience segment.
Third is the ability to execute. This is a common point between vocational schools, training centers and universities. When you take an event organization or content creation course, you learn how to master a tool that is part of a larger campaign. You have the detailed skills to do the job right away, but you will stop at the level of solving problems given by others.
Without process thinking, you will not be able to determine the appropriate solution, how to organize and work effectively, and even less be able to advise and train others to successfully implement other campaigns. In short, studying communication systematically helps each person think about the complete work process and achieve greater success.

Dr. Ly Le Tuong Minh holds the role of Head of the Faculty of Communication and Applied Arts.
What qualities, personality or abilities are suitable for this career?
- Communications is a broad and diverse industry. Whether you are an introvert or an extrovert, good at writing or communicating, like filming or analyzing data, building strategies, you will have a place in the industry.
However, competitiveness is flexibility and adaptability. The market changes very quickly, the 4.0 media trend changes every day. Media workers need to be able to adjust plans, learn new trends, new techniques. Next is sensitivity to technology. Technology is always changing because it is a tool, from social networks, to SEO or E-commerce (electronic commerce) all are constantly moving. How and when to use the tool... depends on your thinking and strengths. Finally, creativity - the most important quality.
This industry requires creativity in words, images and storytelling. How to tell stories in a way that makes a difference, is appropriate and effective for the audience.
