Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, said that at the beginning of the school year, the Department had specifically instructed that the orientation of students after graduating from secondary school should be based on personal capacity and legitimate aspirations. Schools can advise and provide diverse information, but absolutely must not cause confusion or hinder students' right to take the 10th grade entrance exam.

"The pressure to enter public schools in Hanoi is huge. Therefore, theeducation sector and schools create conditions and support students to study with confidence and confidently participate in the exam. Encouraging students not to take the exam is against educational ethics and affects their right to study, so it is unacceptable," said Mr. Cuong.

Many parents reported that some teachers and schools advised students “not to take the entrance exam to public grade 10”, or suggested that they register for admission to vocational education centers, continuing education centers or vocational schools. The Department of Education and Training has directed education and training departments to review and report specifically.

"Any coercive or misdirected behavior towards students will be severely punished," the Director of the Department of Education and Training emphasized.

In the city, there are many types of schools, ensuring to meet the learning needs of students after graduating from junior high school such as: private schools, vocational education - continuing education centers, vocational schools... Choosing which learning model is the wish and right of students and their families.

The phenomenon of teachers encouraging students with poor academic results not to take the entrance exam to grade 10 public schools in Hanoi has been going on for many years. Every year, although the Department of Education and Training has issued instructions to review and criticize teachers, the incident continues to cause much anger among the public, parents and candidates.

Regarding the organization of the exam, Mr. Tran The Cuong said that so far, all preparations for the 10th grade entrance exam for public high schools have been completed. The Department mobilized more than 15,000 officials and teachers to participate in the exam, more than 2,000 officials to mark the exam and nearly 600 officials to perform the exam inspection duties. The whole city arranged 210 exam sites with more than 4,500 exam rooms. The selected exam sites all ensure facilities, security, safety and convenience for students.

According to Mr. Cuong, one of the notable new points of this year's 10th grade entrance exam is the adjustment of the way the admission score is calculated. Instead of multiplying the coefficient by 2 for Math and Literature as in previous years, this year, the admission score will be the total score of 3 subjects (Math, Literature, Foreign Language), each subject is calculated on a 10-point scale and does not multiply the coefficient. This calculation method aims to ensure fairness between subjects and encourage students to study all subjects equally.

This year, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training continues to operate the Online Admissions Portal at https://tsdaucap.hanoi.gov.vn, helping parents and students easily look up admissions information, register for exams, look up exam scores and benchmarks. The Department also sets up online and telephone support channels to answer questions from parents and students.

The entrance exam for grade 10 public high schools in Hanoi this year took place from June 6-9, with June 6 being the day for procedures, June 7-8 for general candidates, and June 9 for specialized candidates. The total number of candidates taking the exam was 115,951.

It is expected that between July 4 and 6, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will announce the exam scores and grade 10 benchmark scores. Successful candidates will confirm their enrollment from July 10 to 12. According to the Department of Education and Training, at least 64% of students registered for the exam will be admitted to grade 10 public high schools.
