Kien Giang Provincial Military Command completed the goal of eliminating 100 temporary and dilapidated houses.

On April 24, Colonel Cao Minh Tam, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, Deputy Commissar of the Military Command of Kien Giang province attended and directed the handover ceremony of 3 houses under the program of "eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses" in Long Thanh commune, Giong Rieng district. The houses handed over on this occasion also marked the completion of the target of building 100 houses assigned by the Provincial Military Command to the District Military Command to coordinate with local authorities.

In 2025, the Military Command of Kien Giang province assigned the target to the Military Command of Giong Rieng district to coordinate with local Party committees and authorities to build 100 houses for poor and near-poor households in communes and towns.

After nearly 2 months of active implementation, the Military Command of Giong Rieng district has completed the target ahead of schedule with a total construction cost of 6 billion VND.

Officers and soldiers of the provincial armed forces coordinated with local Party committees, authorities, departments, organizations and people to support nearly 1,000 working days to help people dismantle and build new houses.

The houses are built and handed over with the “3 hard” guarantee: hard foundation, hard frame and wall and hard roof. The new houses are spacious, helping people feel secure in developing their economy and escaping poverty.

In parallel, the Military Command of Giong Rieng district also coordinated with local authorities and Party committees to mobilize philanthropists and businesses in the area to donate necessities to improve people's lives with a total amount of nearly 150 million VND.

Colonel Cao Minh Tam, Deputy Political Commissar of the Military Command of Kien Giang province, said: “The practical and meaningful tasks of participating in the implementation of the policy of “Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses” in the province have demonstrated the determination of the Kien Giang armed forces to contribute to providing shelter and improving the lives of people in difficult circumstances. At the same time, it has contributed to strengthening the relationship of solidarity and blood ties, leaving a strong impression of the image of soldiers in peacetime in the hearts of the people, being a support and a solid foundation for the people to confidently rise up from poverty, develop the family economy, and contribute to building the homeland increasingly rich and strong”.

According to the Military Command of Kien Giang province, in the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Kien Giang province, the unit has registered to coordinate in building 400 new houses in Giang Thanh, Hon Dat, Giong Rieng, Go Quao and Chau Thanh districts.

Up to this point, Giang Thanh, Hon Dat, Chau Thanh districts have organized handovers and completed the set targets early. Currently, Go Quao district is urgently completing the remaining tasks to organize a house handover ceremony for households to put into use in the next 1-2 days.

When the houses in Go Quao district were handed over, the Military Command of Kien Giang province completed the target of building 400 houses in the program of "eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses" launched by the Provincial People's Committee.
