Nghe An province gives top priority to supporting people in flooded areas

(Chinhphu.vn) - Continuing his working trip to Nghe An, on the morning of July 24, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh and the Government delegation visited and encouraged people in flooded areas in Con Cuong commune, Nghe An province; and households being evacuated at Pu Mat National Park.

According to a quick report from the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense (PCTT-TKCN and PTDS) of Nghe An province, the total number of isolated communes is 27 communes with 22,086 households/101,454 people, of which 6 communes are completely isolated, 21 communes are partially isolated. The number of households that had to be evacuated is 3,440 households.

Up to now, there have been 3 deaths, 1 missing person, 4 injured people due to floods; 495 houses damaged, roofs blown off, 1,276 houses flooded; 1,907.5 hectares of damaged rice fields; 1,391 hectares of annual crops; 705 hectares of existing forests collapsed: 705.5 hectares; 189.1 hectares of small ponds; 92 cages damaged.

The number of flooded points on the spillway and road is 32 locations; landslides on the slopes are 66 locations; 49 landslides and traffic jams, 99 traffic points are flooded...

At the places he visited, the Deputy Prime Minister reminded the local authorities of Nghe An province to proactively evacuate households in dangerous areas to safe places due to the complicated flood situation; give top priority to supporting people in flooded areas and responding to complicated weather developments.

Commune and provincial forces coordinate to support, listen to information to have timely response measures. Keep a close eye on the people's situation, if there are difficulties, shortages of food, foodstuffs, medicine, must support immediately.
