One of those typical examples is Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan, Director of Phuong Nam Import-Export Company Limited, a female representative of Lao Cai province, who was honored to be one of 12 outstanding women nationwide to receive the Vietnam Women's Award 2025.
Born in the port city of Hai Phong , having been attached to Lao Cai for many years, Ms. Lan always believes: "The success of a business is not only measured by profit, but also by the values it gives to society." From that will and aspiration, she has built Phuong Nam Import-Export One Member Co., Ltd., one of the effective trading units, creating stable jobs for 15 employees with a revenue of about 200 billion VND/year.
Not only is she a brave and creative businesswoman, Ms. Lan is also a shining example of compassion and responsibility to the community. Over the past 10 years, she has spent billions of VND on charity, humanitarian and social development activities. In the period of 2021-2025 alone, she contributed more than 7 billion VND to many meaningful projects and programs such as: Building two Dao ethnic cultural houses, a house of gratitude for policy families, supporting schools, donating 50 computers to educational units, supporting the Covid-19 prevention fund, etc. In particular, in 2024, Lao Cai was the locality most severely affected by storm No. 3 (Yagi), Ms. Lan supported the people of Y Ty commune with necessities, household items, etc. worth more than 3 billion VND. In addition, she also donated and supported many areas affected by natural disasters. For her, “giving is forever” and the greatest value of success is not in the amount of money accumulated, but in what you have brought to the community, how many people have felt warmer. With that in mind, over the years, she has quietly sowed good things and then received smiles and joys which, according to her, are priceless “profits” in the journey of being human.
In addition, Ms. Lan is also the "keeper of the community's cultural fire", the head of the Hoa Lan Folk Song Club and the Bac Cuong Arts and Dance Club with 85 members participating, maintaining regular practice, creating a rich spiritual living space for local people. In addition, she sponsored hundreds of millions of VND to buy costumes, sound equipment, organize art exchange programs inside and outside the province, contributing to preserving and spreading the national cultural identity.
Ms. Vu Thi Phuong, Group 25 Bac Cuong, Cam Duong Ward said: “The clubs headed by Ms. Lan are not only a place for people to satisfy their passion for culture and arts, but also become a “bridge” connecting the community, fostering neighborly love. Through the exciting activities, people can enjoy art and together preserve folk songs, dances, costumes and traditional customs of their homeland. Thanks to that, people's spiritual life is improved, cultural identity is preserved and spread.”
With her tireless efforts over 30 years of hard work and dedication, in 2018, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister for her stable and effective production and business model, helping many households to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, creating jobs for workers in Lao Cai, and many other noble awards. But more than any title, what makes her most proud is the love, affection and trust of the people, the "priceless rewards" that she always cherishes.
Vice President of Cam Duong Ward Women's Union Nguyen Thi Lanh said: Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan is not only a successful businesswoman, but also an exemplary woman, full of compassion. Whatever she does, big or small, comes from the spirit of sharing and contributing to the growing community.
