Faced with that situation, the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development ( Agribank ) Lang Son branch has implemented many solutions to support social security and credit incentives to help people restore production and stabilize their lives.
Help people recover
From October 10-13, many working groups of Agribank Lang Son were present in the communes heavily affected by floods such as Yen Binh, Van Nham, Huu Lung, Tuan Son, That Khe to visit, give gifts and support money along with many essential necessities to people affected by floods, with a total value of 1.1 billion VND. Receiving the support, Ms. Dinh Thi Hoai, village 3, That Khe commune, was moved: "This is the second consecutive year my family has suffered a lot of damage due to storms and floods. With the gifts from the staff at Agribank, I feel a great encouragement to help my family overcome difficulties."
In addition to timely social security activities, Agribank Lang Son branch also implemented credit support policies for people to restore production. According to Mr. Le Manh Hung, Deputy Director of Agribank That Khe branch, branch staff proactively informed customers, visited and shared with households in the area, from which they came up with debt restructuring plans and increased credit limits for people. As soon as they received information about the damage, the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development issued a directive document, the branch sent staff to households to grasp the situation, guide the documents, review the level of impact and implement a 0.5% reduction in loan interest rates, no late payment interest and adjustment of overdue interest rates. At the same time, synchronously implemented solutions to support people such as restructuring debt repayment terms; exempting and reducing loan interest rates, freezing debts and providing new loans to households with heavy losses.
Ms. Hoang Thu Trang, Keo Lay village, Trang Dinh commune, an agricultural business household, said: “After the storm passed, the bank had a policy of reducing loan interest rates, creating conditions to increase the limit for importing new goods. Thanks to that, I was able to restore my business and maintain jobs for local workers.” Mr. Tran Minh Tu, Binh Do village, Quoc Viet commune, said: “When the storm passed, my family lost a lot of crops and a herd of pigs. Thanks to the support and guidance from Agribank officers to borrow additional capital, my family has now started to restore herds and restore production.”
Deputy Director of Agribank Lang Son branch Dinh Thi Hong Giang informed: “As soon as we heard that the storm was making landfall, we proactively discussed and planned, grasped the situation at the branches in charge of high-risk communes, and from there developed plans to support and help people early and from afar, contributing to ensuring the safety of capital flows. In particular, after the storm and flood, the branch focused on reviewing the damaged subjects, ensuring that no one suffered prolonged damage.”
Maintaining sustainable capital flows
In addition to promptly implementing solutions to support people to overcome the impact of natural disasters, Agribank Lang Son is also a sustainable "companion" of farmers in the area to develop the economy and stabilize their lives. Credit programs serving agriculture, rural areas and farmers are always prioritized by the branch.
Coming to the lush, green orange garden of more than 6 hectares of Ms. Duong Thi Hong Nhung's family in Vu Lang commune, Lang Son province, few people would think that this place was previously a barren, rocky valley. Ms. Nhung said: "From the 5 billion VND loan from Agribank, our family has been able to build a campus, improve the soil to increase nutrients for the trees, connect electricity and water lines, creating suitable conditions for growing perennial fruit trees. The family is waiting for the first sweet fruits on the upcoming Lunar New Year occasion." With the cooperation and support of Agribank Bac Son credit officers under Agribank Lang Son, now, more than 3,000 orange trees and 100 grafted grapefruit trees in the garden are waiting to bear fruit, promising not only to bring in income but also to have room and potential to develop garden tourism in the near future for the family.
From timely support gifts to preferential credit packages, from the orange tree model in Vu Lang to farmers replanting their herds after floods in Quoc Viet, the value of each credit capital that Agribank Lang Son is implementing not only has economic value but also is sharing and accompanying to help Lang Son people overcome difficulties and soon stabilize their lives.
