General Secretary To Lam attends the inauguration of the Statue of President Ho Chi Minh in Bulgaria

Within the framework of the official visit to the Republic of Bulgaria, on the afternoon of October 24 (local time), General Secretary To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation attended the inauguration ceremony of the Statue of President Ho Chi Minh in the premises of the Vietnamese Embassy in Bulgaria.

Also attending were Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Atanas Zafirov, Chairman of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), the Bulgaria-Vietnam Friendship Association, Bulgarian friends, Ambassadors, Embassy staff and representatives of the Vietnamese community in the Balkan region including Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro and the Czech Republic.

In a solemn atmosphere, General Secretary To Lam and Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov jointly performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony, officially placing the statue of President Ho Chi Minh - the beloved leader of the Vietnamese people, national liberation hero, and outstanding cultural figure - in Bulgaria.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Bulgaria Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet expressed her honor to welcome General Secretary To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to visit and inaugurate the Statue of President Ho Chi Minh on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (1950-2025).

General Secretary To Lam thanked the State and people of Bulgaria for always having good feelings for Vietnam over the past 75 years; emphasizing that this official visit to the Republic of Bulgaria is very important, right on the special occasion, the two countries celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations; the two countries have agreed to upgrade the relationship to a Strategic Partnership. The upgrading of the relationship is very important, orienting cooperation, working together for the development of the two countries, for the happiness of the Vietnamese and Bulgarian people, and contributing to global peace and development.

The General Secretary pointed out the new content of the Vietnam-Bulgaria Strategic Partnership focusing on the main pillars: Continuing to strengthen political relations between Vietnam and Bulgaria, which is the core for the good relationship between the two countries, strengthening the brotherly relationship, increasing visits of high-level delegations, and enhancing cooperation. Focusing on socio-economic development.

Vietnam and Bulgaria still have a lot of potential to promote cooperation, especially within the framework of trade agreements between Vietnam and Europe. During this visit, more than ten documents and cooperation agreements were signed. Cultural-social cooperation, education-training, people-to-people exchange and especially science-technology, Bulgaria's strong fields, are increasingly strengthened and developed. Many Bulgarian universities continue to award scholarships and offer educational exchange programs to Vietnamese students and researchers.

The General Secretary affirmed his belief that in the coming time, Vietnamese people in Bulgaria will continue to make positive contributions to Bulgaria and be a bridge of friendship between the two countries. Vietnam has unilaterally exempted visas for Bulgaria to create favorable conditions for experts, scientists, businessmen, tourists... to come to Vietnam; continue to expand trade cooperation via sea, rail and air routes...

Sharing with Bulgarian friends and our compatriots abroad about the situation in Vietnam, the General Secretary emphasized that for our compatriots abroad, the Party and State have implemented many new policies on nationality, identity cards, real estate, travel, etc.; hoping that our compatriots abroad will unite, support each other and always look towards their homeland and country.

The General Secretary noted that the Embassy is not only a representative agency of Vietnam abroad but also a common home for the overseas Vietnamese community, a trusted address, a support for our compatriots, where they entrust their trust, affection and devotion to their homeland and country.

On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam presented the Vietnamese Embassy in Bulgaria with a bronze drum painting and presented overseas Vietnamese with homeland gifts and Vietnamese language books for children and Vietnamese language classes in the community. With the hope that Vietnamese books conveying Vietnamese culture, heroic historical traditions, and thousands of years of cultural traditions of the country and people of Vietnam will actively contribute to connecting generations of Vietnamese people abroad with their roots, and be a source of inspiration, fostering national pride and love for the homeland and country for generations of Vietnamese people abroad.
