TKV's misting system to suppress dust and prevent environmental pollution

In its sustainable development strategy, Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (TKV) always clearly identifies: "From resources and human resources to become rich and strong; in harmony with the environment; in harmony with the locality and community"; production and business development must be associated with environmental protection, sustainable development in the direction of a green economy, friendly to the environment.

According to TKV, in recent years, the group has implemented synchronous solutions to protect the environment as well as minimize environmental impacts in the production and business process. Every year, TKV allocates funds for environmental protection work throughout the group, especially in the Quang Ninh mining area.

Currently, TKV is operating 36 automatic environmental monitoring systems; 2 thermal power plant emission monitoring systems that ensure regulations and 2 projects to reduce dust and noise... at the same time, maintaining effective operation of invested environmental projects, continuing to invest in new environmental projects, especially projects to improve the landscape environment of production sites.

In addition, TKV is continuing to direct units to review and invest in the construction of increased capacity of mine wastewater treatment plants; invest in high-pressure dust suppression misting machines; build car wash stations before leaving the mine... Especially aiming at developing a circular economy , TKV is reusing mine waste rock and soil to serve the project site leveling, contributing to reducing pressure at high altitudes and ensuring safety for waste dumps.

Notably, TKV is directing units to continue planting trees to green the mines. According to the 2023 plan, the entire group will plant 1.2 million trees, covering an area of 225 hectares, of which over 1 million trees, equivalent to 210 hectares, in Quang Ninh, continue to build the model of "green mines, modern mines, high-output mines" and achieve the goal of "bringing parks into mines and factories".

Efficient use of natural resources

According to TKV, disaster prevention and control work was also proactively implemented by units according to the set plan; no major damage to people and property occurred. Proactively overcome the consequences after heavy rains so as not to affect production activities.

TKV affirms that with appropriate solutions and efforts towards the goal of green growth, in recent years, this group has initially overcome environmental pollution caused by previous mineral exploitation processes and treated and prevented new environmental pollution from arising.

In addition, TKV also proactively applies modern technology to management, improves production capacity, develops in harmony with the environment, effectively uses natural resources, prevents and mitigates natural disasters, responds to climate change, and is consistent with the sustainable development trend of the mining industry.
