FFI supports Quang Ngai province in biodiversity conservation

Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee has just issued Decision No. 1371 QD-UBND dated November 7, 2024 on approving the document on using additional non-refundable aid capital of 2.5 billion VND for the project: Biodiversity conservation in Quang Ngai province sponsored by Fauna & Flora International (FFI) - Vietnam Program.

With a total non-refundable aid capital of 2.5 billion VND, equivalent to 100,000 USD, the Project will be implemented in 2 years 2024-2025, with the goal of establishing Tay Ba To Nature Reserve, Quang Ngai province (connected with Tay Ba To Kon Chu Rang Nature Reserve of Gia Lai province and Tay Ba To An Toan Nature Reserve of Binh Dinh province).

The project aims to: build capacity and an enabling environment for effective and sustainable management of Nature Reserves (after establishment of Nature Reserves); Enhance capacity for Nature Reserve rangers and local community conservation teams.

The project also aims to enhance the capacity of forest rangers, community members, and specialized forest protection forces to participate in protecting the Western Ba To District Nature Reserve.

At the same time, support capacity building for members of forest protection patrol teams to apply SMART patrol tools and to build sustainable financial plans for forest protection work of community conservation teams (additional resources from carbon, from private enterprises...).

Fauna & Flora International (FFI) was founded in 1903 and is a British non-governmental organization working in the field of wildlife conservation. FFI is one of the oldest conservation organizations in the world, focusing on the conservation of threatened species and ecosystems globally based on sustainable, science- based solutions that take into account human needs.

FFI currently has projects in 40 countries around the world, protecting species from extinction and preventing habitat destruction, while improving the livelihoods of local people. In Vietnam, FFI has been operating since 1997, focusing primarily on the conservation of Vietnam’s native primates through partnerships with government agencies and local communities.
