At around 7:20 a.m., lightning struck the school gate area at Phu Quy school, Binh Chau Primary School No. 2, causing light bulbs to fall, light sockets to break, and power lines over 10 meters long. Fortunately, students were already in class at that time.
At the scene, the right gate pillar was cracked and bricks fell out. In class 5A alone, 3 light bulbs burned out due to lightning.

Immediately after the incident, the school made temporary repairs so that teaching and learning could resume as normal. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Long, Principal of Binh Chau Primary School No. 2, said that Phu Quy school has 95 students and teachers.

*In related developments, in order to proactively respond to the complicated developments of storm No. 12, on October 19, the People's Committee of Binh Son commune mobilized local militia forces to pile sand and reinforce nearly 300m of Tien Dao dike, a vulnerable section along the Tra Bong river, to protect residential areas and crops.

Ms. Vo Thi Hien, Chairman of Binh Son Commune People's Committee, said: "On October 20, in response to the impact of storm No. 12 with heavy rain, in addition to proactively reinforcing the dike, the commune also directed units to check the discharge gate system and water control valves along Tra Bong River, and prepare forces to be on duty 24/7 to respond promptly in case of emergency."
