In December 2023, Asta Jonasson, Vin Diesel's former assistant, filed a sexual assault lawsuit against the Fast & Furious actor in Los Angeles, related to an incident that allegedly occurred in 2010 at a hotel in Atlanta.
On June 3, Judge Daniel M. Crowley issued a ruling, dismissing the plaintiff's four allegations related to the California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), including: discrimination, hostile work environment, failure to prevent discrimination, harassment and retaliation.

“Plaintiff’s FEHA-related claims are barred because she failed to file suit within one year of the alleged adverse action,” Judge Crowley wrote in a ruling obtained by People .
Vin Diesel's attorney Bryan Freedman told People on June 3: "It is ridiculous that someone who worked for the company less than two weeks ago in another state 15 years ago is allowed to use the California court system to make such baseless claims. Today, the court granted our client's motion to dismiss part of this frivolous lawsuit."
“We will present irrefutable evidence that the remaining frivolous allegations raised did not occur and will finally put an end to what remains of this maliciously filed lawsuit,” Freedman continued.
The lawsuit was filed 13 years after Vin Diesel was accused.
"While we disagree with the court's decision on this legal issue, the court has not entered any judgment that affects the remaining causes of action in this case. We will continue to vigorously defend our client , who remains committed to seeking justice," Jonasson 's attorney Matthew T. Hale told People.

The court has yet to rule on the remaining six allegations in Jonasson's lawsuit, including: unlawful termination of employment; sexual assault; employee supervision and retention; intentional infliction of emotional distress...
In her complaint, Jonasson said she was hired by Vin Diesel's production company One Race Films to assist him in Atlanta, where the crew was filming the 2011 blockbuster Fast Five. Jonasson accused Diesel of pulling her onto a bed, touching her breasts, fondling her legs... at an Atlanta hotel in September 2010. She was fired the next day.
After news of the lawsuit broke in December 2023, attorney Freedman stated: "Let me be clear, Vin Diesel completely denies these claims."
"This is the first time Vin Diesel has heard of allegations made 13 years ago by an employee who worked there for only nine days. There is clear evidence that completely refutes these outrageous allegations," he added at the time.
