The seminar was attended by leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of the province, experts from the National Agricultural Extension Center, the Institute of Animal Husbandry and 70 livestock households in the province.

In recent times, the livestock industry in Lao Cai province has achieved certain results: production value in 2025 reached 6,410 billion VND (2010 comparable price); total main livestock herd of more than 1.5 million heads, poultry herd of 13.2 million heads; output of fresh meat of all kinds reached 164,000 tons, meeting consumer demand and exporting outside the province.

The whole province has 1,176 livestock facilities meeting farm criteria; 8 pig farming chains with a scale of 600 - 700 sows, 300 - 2,000 pigs and poultry farming chains with a scale of 50,000 - 150,000 poultry/batch; 51 high-tech farm facilities are developing well.
To proactively protect livestock, recently, the province has directed and guided localities to deploy many proactive solutions to prevent hunger and cold for livestock in the winter-spring crop of 2025 - 2026.

At the same time, the province has stepped up propaganda, mobilization, and inspection of cold prevention work in localities and facilities; deployed full vaccination of livestock; instructed livestock households to protect livestock in the winter promptly and effectively; effectively deployed a number of cold prevention models for livestock...

However, according to statistics, the number of livestock households in the province with barns accounts for about 80%, the remaining 20% do not have barns or do not have adequate barns; some highland localities still let livestock roam in the forest and do not proactively store food for livestock.
