Taking place during the month of celebrating Vietnamese Teachers' Day, the event is considered a special gift of gratitude to millions of teachers across the country, who are constantly striving to innovate teaching methods, contributing to improving the quality of Vietnamese education in the digital age.
At the ceremony, Khanmigo - an artificial intelligence (AI) teaching assistant specifically for education developed by Khan Academy will officially launch its Vietnamese version, built to suit the educational and cultural context of Vietnam. The application is expected to become a "Smart teaching assistant companion" for teachers, helping to prepare lessons, suggest teaching methods, create questions and exercises, as well as provide personalized learning feedback to students.
Notably, the Department of Teachers and Educational Administrators ( Ministry of Education and Training ), representatives of Departments of Education and Training and The Vietnam Foundation will sign a Memorandum of Understanding on promoting the application of artificial intelligence in teacher training and development and deploying Khanmigo in Vietnam. The agreement aims to strengthen coordination in applying AI technology to teaching activities, supporting teachers to improve digital capacity and implementing personalized teaching, especially in the context of promoting English as a second language in schools.
The event was attended by leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training , representatives of Departments, Divisions, affiliated units, leaders of Departments of Education and Training, and many delegates from universities, educational institutions, educational organizations and domestic enterprises. Through this activity, the organizing units affirmed their commitment to accompany the Ministry of Education and Training in implementing Resolution 71, towards fundamental and comprehensive innovation of Vietnamese education by applying artificial intelligence to teaching and educational management.
Within the framework of the event, the panel discussion "Effective application of AI in classroom management" was held with the participation of leading experts and educational managers such as Prof. Dr. Ho Tu Bao, Director of the Data Science Laboratory, VIASM; Dr. Vu Minh Duc, Director of the Department of Teachers and Educational Managers, Ministry of Education and Training; Dr. Nguyen Hong Son, Vice President of the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education; Prof. Dr. Le Anh Vinh, Director of the Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences (VNIES); M.A. Chu Hai Yen, Teacher of Foreign Language Secondary School, University of Foreign Languages and Dr. Do Ngoc Minh, The Vietnam Foundation.
Speakers will share in-depth insights into the role of AI in education, the potential application of Khanmigo in Vietnamese classrooms, as well as cooperation orientations between units to spread this tool to teachers nationwide.
The seminar also opened a space for direct exchange between experts and teachers, where teachers can ask questions, share concerns, and discuss opportunities and challenges when applying artificial intelligence in teaching in general and using Khanmigo in particular. This is expected to be an open and practical forum, helping Vietnamese teachers approach AI proactively, safely and effectively.
According to Mr. Le Minh Ha, CEO of VIASM, Deputy Head of the Executive Board of the National Key Program for Mathematics Development for the period 2021-2030 of the Ministry of Education and Training: The application of artificial intelligence in teaching in general and teaching Mathematics in particular is considered one of the key solutions to improve the quality of Mathematics training, especially supporting teachers in personalizing the learning process for students at all levels.
Mr. Le Minh Ha shared: "Khanmigo is not only a general teaching support tool, but for Math, Khanmigo is also a bridge to help students approach Math in a more natural and interesting way. This is completely consistent with the orientation of the Math Program in sustainable development in all three areas: research, application and training. In recent times, many AI tools have been introduced to support students' learning as well as the design and construction of lectures and learning programs for teachers. However, classroom management support tools for teachers are still relatively few and have many limited features. With Khanmigo, we can do this work systematically and completely reliably."
Sharing about the significance of the event, Dr. Do Ngoc Minh - representative of the Organizing Committee said: "The launch of Khanmigo in Vietnam not only brings a modern technological tool, but also demonstrates our strong commitment to supporting teachers to innovate teaching methods, helping students learn more effectively in the digital age."
