During the fierce years of resistance against the US to save the country, many painters and sculptors joined the artists in the battle; directly fighting and creating in the bombs and bullets of the battlefield, contributing to the cause of national liberation and reunification.
In this exhibition, you can see the works of generations of veteran artists with many imprints, contributing to the development of Vietnamese fine arts, to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland; among them are those who participated in the revolution, such as: painter Nguyen Sang, sculptor Ta Quang Bao ( Ho Chi Minh Prize for Literature and Arts); late painter, Colonel Nguyen Quang Tho, painter, Meritorious Teacher Nguyen Nghia Duyen (State Prize for Literature and Arts)... Besides, there are the following generations with many recognized successes, such as: sculptors Dinh Gia Thang, Hoa Bich Dao, Nguyen Phu Cuong...; painters Nguyen Truong Linh, Dao Quoc Huy...
The 50 works on display include various genres of painting, graphics, sculpture, and sketching with vivid expressive language; helping art lovers recall the great victory of our army and people in the resistance war to save the country and the cause of building and defending the Fatherland today.
These are images of fierce battlefields in Quyet Tu Cho Ha Noi (mixed materials by Hoa Bich Dao), Khuc Ca Tram Trang (oil by Bui Anh Hung). They are joyful, peaceful and romantic moments after battles in Ky Niem Truong Son (Dong Go by Nguyen Xuan Thanh), Reading Newspaper (lacquer by Nguyen The Vinh). They are the emotional reunion of a wounded soldier with his old mother in Ngay Met Me (watercolor by Ngo Quang Nam). They are the peaceful, bright beauty of peaceful life in Thong Nhat (lacquer by Nguyen Sang), Sum Hoi Bac-Central-South (oil by Tran Tuy)...
Some works vividly and emotionally depict the images of Uncle Ho and General Vo Nguyen Giap such as: Uncle Ho stopping by the stream (carved by Nguyen Nghia Duyen), The South in my heart (oil on canvas by Do Ngoc Dung), General Vo Nguyen Giap (wood by Nguyen Van Tue)...
Since the great victory of Spring 1975, with the spirit of patriotism, self-reliance, self-strengthening, determination, courage, innovation and integration, after 50 years our country has achieved many achievements in all fields. The themes of homeland, country and the cause of building and defending the Fatherland are expressed emotionally and sublimely in many works, such as: Clouds 1 and Clouds 2 (oil on canvas by Le Anh Van); Countryside (acrylic by Vi Kien Thanh), Truong Sa (bronze by Ta Quang Bao); Green Square (lacquer by Nguyen Truong Linh), Dawn on the Construction Site (oil on canvas by Bui Anh Hung)...
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong affirmed: “The exhibition is an opportunity for the public to recall the heroic journey of the nation, expressing deep gratitude to generations of heroes and martyrs who sacrificed for independence and freedom. Through the works of art, today's generation understands more clearly the value of peace, thereby arousing the will to rise up in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.”
Participating in the exhibition with two works: Vietnamese Heroic Mother (monument) and The Source of Happiness (bronze statue), sculptor Dinh Gia Thang from Da Nang shared: “This is a very meaningful art exhibition on this great and extremely important anniversary. I feel happy and joyful to participate in the exhibition with artists from the generations of the two great resistance wars to save the country, when my works have the opportunity to spread the spirit of patriotism and national pride”.
