Full text of the inaugural speech of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man

In his inaugural speech after being elected as Chairman of the National Assembly, Mr. Tran Thanh Man shared that this is a great honor and at the same time his great responsibility before the Party, State and people.

Dear leaders of the Party, State and Vietnam Fatherland Front ,

Dear Members of the National Assembly,

Dear compatriots, comrades, armed forces soldiers and voters nationwide,

First of all, I would like to sincerely thank the delegates of the 15th National Assembly for their trust in electing me to hold the position of Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. This is a great honor and at the same time a great responsibility for me before the Party, the State and the People.

In this solemn moment, I would like to express my respect and infinite gratitude to the great President Ho Chi Minh; I would like to express my gratitude to the senior leaders, revolutionary veterans, heroic Vietnamese mothers, heroes of the armed forces, heroes of labor; families of martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers, and families with meritorious services to the country. I would like to sincerely thank the Central Executive Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, and General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong for their correct and close leadership and direction; I sincerely thank the National Assembly delegates, compatriots, voters nationwide and our compatriots abroad; countries, organizations, individuals and international friends who have helped and shared so that our country Vietnam has never had the foundation, potential, position and international prestige as it does today.

Dear Congress,

I am always deeply aware that, no matter what position I hold, I must always adhere to the goals of national independence and socialism; creatively apply and develop Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh thought; adhere to the Party's innovation policy; ensure the highest national interests and the legitimate rights, interests and aspirations of the people.

Grasp and seriously implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; be steadfast, consistent and uphold the Party's working principles and laws in the face of new difficulties and challenges of the country. Regularly cultivate, train and improve revolutionary ethics; seriously self-reflect, self-correct, self-criticize and criticize; be exemplary in ethics and lifestyle in work as well as in personal and family life.

Proud of the glorious Party, great Uncle Ho, heroic Vietnamese people; hopeful for the future development of the country, to meet the requirements and tasks in the new period, I am determined to make the greatest efforts and determination to join the entire Party, people and army to successfully achieve the goal of building a prosperous and civilized country, with a prosperous and happy people.

Performing the duties and powers stipulated in the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the duties entrusted to me by the Party, the State and the People, I pledge to devote all my efforts to serving the Fatherland and the People; together with the National Assembly, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, the agencies of the National Assembly, the agencies under the Standing Committee of the National Assembly and the National Assembly deputies, continue to innovate, improve the quality and effectiveness of activities in both legislative work, supreme supervision and decision-making on important issues of the country; continue to strengthen the National Assembly's foreign affairs along with the Party's foreign affairs, State diplomacy and people's diplomacy; promote democracy, solidarity, publicity, transparency and professionalism, contributing to building a truly socialist rule-of-law State of the People, by the People and for the People.

I respectfully hope that the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, the leaders and former leaders of the Party, the State, the Vietnam Fatherland Front; the National Assembly deputies, the agencies of the National Assembly, the National Assembly Standing Committee, the President, the Government, the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuracy, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the socio-political organizations, the sectors, the localities, the agencies, the units, the voters and the people of the whole country, our compatriots abroad, the intellectuals, international friends, the press agencies will continue to support, accompany, help, and create conditions for me to fulfill my tasks well.

I wish the leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front, National Assembly delegates, compatriots, comrades, soldiers of the armed forces and voters nationwide good health, happiness and success.

Wishing the 7th session of the 15th National Assembly great success.
