Honoring valuable moments in the country's development journey

On the morning of May 4, within the framework of the Gala celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first issue of Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper (SGGP) (May 5, 1975 - May 5, 2025) at Thong Nhat Hall, the Organizing Committee of the "Land of a Thousand Flowers" Photo Contest awarded prizes to the 34 best works.

The Land of a Thousand Flowers Photo Contest was organized by SGGP Newspaper and the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists (VAPA). After more than 6 months of launching, the contest attracted 591 participants with 6,357 outstanding photographic works.

The Land of a Thousand Flowers is a rare photo contest with 5 main themes : Achievements, Dedication, A Thousand Miles of Mountains and Rivers, Green Development, and For Children - linking a journey from the past to the present and towards the future, contributing to reflecting and introducing a peaceful and developing Vietnam through images. With its humanistic meaning and high spread, the contest received enthusiastic responses from many photography lovers across the country.

This is an opportunity to share valuable moments, tell vivid visual stories, and contribute to the collection of visual documents about the development process of Ho Chi Minh City and a prosperous Vietnam over the past 50 years.

Evaluating the artistic quality of the contest, Photographer Tran Thi Thu Dong, President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, affirmed: The artistic quality of the contest is clearly demonstrated through the creativity and sophistication in each work. Photographers not only focus on composition and lighting but also exploit the depth of emotions, creating highly artistic photos. Each frame is not only a recording of a moment but also a harmonious combination of photographic techniques and artistic spirit, resulting in works that have lasting vitality over time.

“With the harmonious combination of art and historical value, The Land of a Thousand Flowers goes beyond the scope of a competition, making an important mark in the country's photography movement. The entries become valuable documents, contributing to marking a period of brilliant development of the country. The jury closely follows the content of each theme to evaluate, judge, and select, in general reflecting the journey of change to develop and grow the country after 50 years of unification,” emphasized the Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists.

VAPA awards medals and certificates to award-winning authors and works

After 2 preliminary and final rounds, the Jury selected 131 works for the Exhibition round. As a result, 34 best works were awarded according to 5 theme groups. In which, the theme of Thousand Miles of Mountains and Rivers increased by 1 Encouragement Prize (including 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize, 2 Third Prizes and 4 Encouragement Prizes). Each Achievement and Dedication theme has 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize, 2 Third Prizes and 3 Encouragement Prizes. The Green Development theme has no First Prize and 1 Second Prize, 2 Third Prizes and 3 Encouragement Prizes. The For Children theme has 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize, 2 Third Prizes and 2 Encouragement Prizes. The total value of the prize is equivalent to 600 million VND.

In addition, among the Top 131 works entering the Exhibition round awarded VAPA Certificates, the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists awarded 2 gold medals, 4 silver medals, 6 bronze medals and 8 consolation prizes to 20 excellent artistic photography works.
