Lang Co Bay is more than 60km from Hue city and 20km from Da Nang; it is an almost pristine bay located at the foot of Hai Van pass, with a flat beach, vast blue water and a very diverse and rich ecosystem.
Being a nearly closed bay with a relatively uniform depth and an area of 150km2, Lang Co is located in a tropical monsoon climate zone, relatively mild. In the distance are vast tropical forests on undulating mountain ranges, between the mountains and the sea is the brackish lagoon Lap An spread across the area, with a rich flora and fauna.
Here, many areas are developed for raising snails, green mussels, cobia and some special fish species with high economic value such as grouper, silver pomfret, snapper... to create a logistics service base for tourism development.
Lang Co is a transitional area between the Gulf of Tonkin and the East Sea, with mountains, rivers, seas, islands, and lagoons. The bay has both saltwater and brackish water, creating a habitat for many rare marine animals and plants with high economic value and biodiversity.
With its ecological diversity, Lang Co has been included in the list of 15 marine protected areas in Vietnam with 5 ecosystems: Coral reef ecosystem, seagrass ecosystem, rocky intertidal ecosystem, sandy intertidal ecosystem and mangrove ecosystem.
Within a radius of about 150km, Lang Co is also the center of an area that concentrates 4 world heritages: Hue Monuments Complex, Hoi An Ancient Town, My Son Relics, Phong Nha-Ke Bang Natural Heritage, along with many of the most famous landscapes of the region. With these conditions, Lang Co has the ability to connect the urban chain from Hue-Chan May-Lang Co-Da Nang-Hoi An on the journey of "Central Heritage Road".
All of the above factors have given Lang Co great potential to develop many types of tourism such as beach resorts, lagoon eco-tourism, mountain climbing, golf courses, scuba diving, tropical forest exploration, craft villages...
Lying between the mountains and the sea is the vast Lap An lagoon. This is one of the famous scenic spots and tourist destinations of Thua Thien-Hue province, considered by King Khai Dinh as a paradise.
Some people believe that the place name “Lang Co” was mispronounced by the French during the French colonial period as “An Cu,” which was originally a fishing village in the south of the lagoon called L'An Cu. Some people also believe that in the past, Lang Co had many flocks of storks, so it was called Lang Co, and later the locals mispronounced it as Lang Co.

Called Lang Co beach or Lang Co bay, each has its own unique features, in the bay there is the sea. Nestled between the branches of the Truong Son range jutting out into the sea, with Hai Van pass on one side and Phu Gia pass on the other, Lang Co appears as a beautiful and long range of sand dunes. In the late autumn days, Lang Co beach is immersed in a misty fog. In the afternoon, flocks of white storks fly across the sky to Lap An lagoon to sleep.
Lang Co Beach has long been a famous beach attracting tourists with the convergence of all the best things such as a coastline stretching nearly 10km, clear blue water, long stretches of white sand, an average temperature of only about 25 degrees Celsius, and extremely cool and fresh air.
Nestled on Lang Co Bay is a picturesque fishing village with over 250 years of history, with clear blue water and long stretches of white sand. Visitors can come and learn about the culture of coastal people, experience fishing for seafood along the coast, and enjoy Hue delicacies.
Lang Co is not only about the sea but also about the harmony of tropical forests, winding mountain passes, towering rocky mountains and exciting explorations up and down the mountains and seas.
In 2009, Lang Co Bay was voted "Lang Co - The most beautiful bay in the world" by the Worldbays Club.
