On the morning of June 18, in Ho Chi Minh City, General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Central working delegation worked with the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Binh Duong Provincial Party Committee and Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Party Committee.
Before the working session, General Secretary To Lam and the Central delegation, leaders and delegates of the three provinces offered incense and flowers to President Ho Chi Minh at the President Ho Chi Minh statue.
At the working session, General Secretary To Lam and the Central working delegation will listen to reports from localities on the progress of implementing the Central's resolutions and conclusions; the arrangement of local apparatus; the socio-economic situation, Party building work in the first 6 months of the year; the implementation of Resolution 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology development, innovation and national digital transformation and recommendations from localities....
This is a historic meeting as in just a few days, Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces will merge into Ho Chi Minh City; at the same time, communes and wards will be reorganized, two-level local governments will be established, and the new apparatus will be put into operation from July 1.
Previously, the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and agencies and units of the three provinces had many working sessions to discuss the merger plan. Most recently, on June 16, the People's Committees of Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Binh Duong held a meeting and agreed on many important contents.
In which, 3 localities have agreed on the overall project to arrange specialized agencies, administrative units, public service units; the plan to establish a 2-level Public Administration Service Center; arrange headquarters, transfer administrative units; support career conversion training, job referrals, purchase and lease-purchase of social housing for cadres, civil servants, public employees, and non-professional workers after arranging the organization of the political system...
After merging 3 provinces, the new Ho Chi Minh City has an area of about 6,770km2 with more than 13.6 million people. The new Ho Chi Minh City has 168 wards, communes and Con Dao special zone.
