At the event, Head of the Central Emulation and Reward Committee Pham Huy Giang announced the President 's decision to award the First Class Labor Medal to Vietnam Television.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, General Secretary To Lam awarded the First Class Labor Medal to Vietnam Television.

Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam stated that this is an important milestone on the glorious journey, with many proud marks of generations of leaders, cadres, civil servants and workers of Vietnam Television.
The General Secretary emphasized that over the past 55 years, from rudimentary technical conditions, VTV has developed into a national station, a key, core, multi-media media agency propagating the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State; contributing to education, nurturing spiritual life, improving people's knowledge; speaking up for the people in the cause of building, protecting and developing the country. Accompanying the country and the nation, VTV's programs and works have objectively reflected political, economic, cultural and social life in many aspects; encouraged innovation, spread new factors; fought against corruption, waste and negativity; performed the function of social supervision, criticism, and recommendations for improving institutions and policies.

General Secretary To Lam dedicated 10 words to Vietnam Television: "Everyone, anytime, anywhere, sharp, attractive". "Everyone means everyone in the country, abroad, without distinction, everyone can enjoy. Anytime means any time can be done well. Everywhere means not only in Vietnam but also in the world. We have been sharp and attractive, so we must continue to be sharper and more attractive", the General Secretary emphasized.
General Secretary To Lam suggested that VTV should focus on six key tasks. These include remaining steadfast in the Party's revolutionary goals, remaining absolutely loyal to the Fatherland and the people; performing well the role of the main national media agency, multimedia, and pioneering flag on the ideological and cultural front; building a team of cadres, reporters, editors, and technicians with strong political will, good expertise, technological proficiency, clear professional ethics, and aspiration to contribute; improving the quality of content, enriching Vietnamese cultural identity; honestly reflecting life, encouraging new factors, good people, good deeds, spreading good values, promoting a society that upholds human values, educating knowledge and ethics; fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints...
Previously, in his commemorative speech, General Director of Vietnam Television Nguyen Thanh Lam stated that Vietnam Television is determined to affirm its position and role as a key national media agency reaching out to the region, building its position in the international arena - being the official and trustworthy voice of the Party and State, a forum for all classes of people - contributing to the cause of building and protecting the socialist Fatherland...

At the event, the national foreign television channel Vietnam Today was officially launched. The birth of Vietnam Today is an important milestone, demonstrating Vietnam's determination to enhance information, promote the image of the country, people, culture and development achievements to international friends; is a bridge to help international friends understand correctly, deeply and comprehensively about Vietnam.
