On March 24, in Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Ba Son Corporation held the keel-laying ceremony of Ship No. 1 under the project to build a series of multi-purpose cargo ships Combi Freighter 3850 (code CF3850) for Damen Group.
This is an opportunity for Ba Son Corporation to affirm its capacity in the technology of building new ships with modern quality and technical standards; continue to improve the management level, technological capacity, and skills of officers, workers and employees; gradually enhance the position and brand of the unit in the export shipbuilding market. Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Le Quang Tuyen, Deputy Director of the General Department of Defense Industry, requested Ba Son Corporation to focus resources, speed up the implementation of the next steps to organize shipbuilding according to plan; proactively purchase materials and equipment for shipbuilding to ensure quality and progress.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Mai Quoc Truong, General Director of Ba Son Corporation , the ships designed by Damen Group in general and the Combi Freghter 3850 series in particular are modern, high-standard ships, requiring the corporation to make more efforts in project management, production organization, and supply of materials and equipment. With its capacity, experience and high responsibility, Ba Son Corporation believes and commits to implementing the project on schedule, with quality and absolute safety.
According to the contract between Ba Son Corporation and Damen Group signed on November 10, 2022, the CF3850 is a multi-purpose cargo ship designed by Damen Group and built by Ba Son Corporation with a quantity of 06 units. The ship has the largest length: 89.70 m; width: 12.50 m; summer draft: 5.48 m; height from the side to the main deck: 7.00 m; ship load at draft 5.48 m (approximately) 3850 tons. The project is expected to be completed in early 2025.
