From the moment we entered the gate of the 296th Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, we were impressed by the tall buildings with modern, aesthetically pleasing architecture, surrounded by large, shady trees. Along the road from the main gate to Area A, there were impressively decorated slogans with messages such as: “Unity, creativity, positivity, proactiveness, dedicated service, building the Center into a reliable address”; “Welcome with warmth, stay with care, leave with consideration”; “Good food, good living conditions, good spiritual culture, safety in all aspects”; “Culturally appropriate communication and behavior, enthusiastic and responsible, speak less, do more, efficiency in work is paramount”…
The headquarters of the 296th Convalescent and Rehabilitation Unit has recently been reinforced and renovated. |
Speaking with us, Colonel Van Dinh Nhat, Commander of the 296th Rehabilitation and Nursing Unit, said: “In recent years, along with investment from higher levels, we have maximized the unit's internal resources to renovate and build hundreds of guest rooms, increasing the number to over 900 beds. In addition, the Unit has built and upgraded the Occupational Disease Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, the A4 dining hall, and the A-area auditorium with 350 seats. We have renovated, upgraded, and installed additional elevator systems in the F2 and F3 guest rooms; and replaced and upgraded 100% of the equipment and furnishings in the guest rooms and reception areas. Currently, the quality of the guest rooms at the Unit is equivalent to a 3-star hotel. Furthermore, the Unit has installed a security camera system in all areas to ensure guest safety. The flower gardens, landscaping, fruit orchards, and ornamental plants are regularly maintained to create a friendly, green, clean, and beautiful environment, providing a fresh space for guests to relax. Currently, The resort has high-quality tennis courts, volleyball courts, table tennis, and pickleball courts, along with a modern fitness equipment system at the Rehabilitation and Functional Recovery Center, allowing guests to improve their physical fitness and participate in sports activities.
To see for ourselves, we were guided by Lieutenant Colonel Tran Duy Tra, Party Secretary and Political Commissar of the unit, on a tour of the rooms in areas A1, A2, F2, and F3. Here, we observed that each room was fully equipped with a refrigerator, cable TV, matching seating, air conditioning, hot and cold shower, Wi-Fi, personal storage lockers, and new blankets, sheets, pillows, mattresses, curtains, and blinds… The items in the rooms were arranged neatly, tidily, and aesthetically pleasing. The blankets, sheets, pillows, and mattresses were all freshly washed, smelling of fabric softener, and ironed. Each room also had a guide on how to use the equipment and the rules for guests to easily follow.

Both areas A and F are equipped with large-capacity industrial washing machines and dryers to serve guests. Recently, the group organized the reinforcement and upgrading of the canteen and beverage service systems in the resorts, and installed some new equipment in the karaoke rooms to ensure high-quality service for guests to socialize and hold cultural events.
Through our investigation, we learned that to ensure the absolute health and safety of guests, the resort annually invites officials from the Military Institute of Preventive Medicine to test the water source and conduct health checkups for its staff. They also organize disinfection spraying around the facility, and treat sanitary areas and waste collection points. A "rapid response" team of six members, including three doctors, is maintained, divided into two sections in areas A and F, on duty 24/7, ready to handle any unexpected health-related situations for guests.
With the motto "Welcome guests with warmth, attentive service during their stay, and thoughtful care upon their departure" and the goal of "Good food, good accommodation, a positive cultural and spiritual experience, and safety in all aspects," the unit stipulates that when guests arrive for a vacation, regardless of the time of day, the reception department must always welcome them warmly and attentively. Before departure, guests are assisted by the finance and reception departments with quick and satisfactory procedures. The unit regularly and proactively monitors the security situation and coordinates with local authorities to effectively implement measures to prevent and combat social evils and criminal activities to ensure guest safety. In addition, the Party Committee and the unit's leadership consistently focus on building a team of officers and staff with strong political convictions, good moral character, comprehensive knowledge, and expertise in their profession; who are dedicated to their work, committed to the unit, and constantly contribute to building the unit's reputation.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Cao Xuan Lieu, Deputy Commander, to maintain the quality of meals for officers, staff, and guests staying here, the unit's leadership and command focus on strictly implementing all stages of sourcing food to ensure safety. The unit's command assigns the logistics department to source food in large quantities and supply it to the kitchens. Food suppliers must be reputable, have clear addresses, guarantee quality and hygiene, have complete invoices, documents, and contracts, and offer prices lower than the market rate and stable for at least 10 days. In addition, the unit's command encourages officers and staff to actively utilize vacant land around the buildings to grow green vegetables and herbs; and to actively prepare food to ensure self-sufficiency in meals.

Currently, 100% of the unit's kitchens operate on a three-pronged self-sufficiency model (self-producing sausages, ham, tofu, pickled vegetables, and bean sprouts; self-producing fish sauce; and self-producing spices and herbs) to ensure quality, reduce costs, and tightly manage the food delivery process. In addition, the unit participates annually in tourism training courses organized by Sam Son city; invites lecturers from the University of Commerce, Thanh Hoa College of Commerce and Tourism, and major hotels to directly teach and guide cooking techniques to its staff. It also actively sends staff for training in cooking techniques at schools within and outside the military. Regularly organizing training courses, workshops, competitions, sports events, and study tours to experience-sharing experiences at military nursing homes, restaurants, and major hotels nationwide... Therefore, the quality of meals at the kitchens is always maintained, with frequently changing menus and many delicious dishes for guests to choose from according to their preferences...
With thorough preparation and the dedicated service spirit of its officers, staff, and soldiers, the 296th Convalescent and Rehabilitation Unit will continue to achieve even greater success and leave a positive impression on officers on convalescent leave, as well as domestic and international tourists visiting the unit during the upcoming tourist season.
