On the evening of April 28, Ho Chi Minh City held a rehearsal for a drone demonstration at Bach Dang Wharf (District 1). Accordingly, 10,500 drones will simultaneously fly into the air at 8:30 p.m. - 8:45 p.m. This is also the official demonstration time, on May 1.

The drone demonstration is one of the events that residents and tourists in Ho Chi Minh City look forward to in the series of activities "Colors of Uncle Ho's City," held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

This drone performance depicts sacred images, vivid symbols of the journey to regain independence and unity for the Vietnamese people such as the moment tanks entered the Independence Palace, the image of the fluttering liberation flag, the portrait of President Ho Chi Minh...

With a spectacular performance, the sky of Ho Chi Minh City is more brilliant thanks to modern technology combined with historical images, creating special moments.

Recorded from 6pm, many people were present at Bach Dang wharf area (District 1) to have the opportunity to admire the special drone performance. People also chose cafes and high-rise buildings around there to have a full view of the brilliant, shimmering drone scene.

Many families and groups of young people also brought folding chairs, drinks, and even binoculars so as not to miss any moment of the “light festival”. Vu Thao Linh Chi (living in Tan Phu district) said that after school, she and her friends went to the center to watch the drone show.

“Usually during celebrations I only get to see fireworks, but this is the first time I get to see a drone, so I'm very excited,” Linh Chi said.

Not only Ho Chi Minh City residents, many tourists from other localities also flocked to the site. Mr. Nguyen Khac Tuong (from Bac Ninh ) shared: “I traveled nearly 2,000 kilometers to Ho Chi Minh City to enjoy the special programs during the great festival. I was very impressed with the display of drones forming a tank into the Independence Palace.”

Previously, according to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports , the 10,500 drone display would take place on April 19, April 26, and April 30. However, the 19th and 26th were not able to take place.

Therefore, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has announced the adjustment of drone performance times on the evening of April 28 and May 1. At the same time, the Department of Culture and Sports is assigned to preside over and coordinate with the Ho Chi Minh City Police to be responsible for technical inspection to organize the implementation to ensure security, order, traffic safety and fire prevention.

With this drone performance, the Organizing Committee has filed a proposal to set a Vietnamese record for the largest number of drones performing at the same time.

In addition to this activity, the program series "Colors of Uncle Ho's City" also has many special activities such as 3D mapping technology projection in front of the City People's Committee, fireworks display, art performances on barges, of which the most important activity is the official parade ceremony taking place on the morning of April 30. In addition, there are also a series of events such as exhibitions, outdoor film screenings for people...

In addition, on the evening of April 30, Ho Chi Minh City will fire fireworks at 30 locations from 9:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., including two high-altitude fireworks locations: the Saigon River Tunnel (Thu Duc City) and Ben Duoc Martyrs Memorial Temple (Cu Chi District) and 28 low-altitude fireworks locations./.
