Summary of the project to propagate and mobilize farmers to treat waste

Collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements are rewarded during the project implementation process.

The project "Propaganda and mobilization of farmers to treat waste in Vietnam, contributing to the international community's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions" is being implemented in the province from July 2022 to December 2024 in 9 communes and towns in 4 districts of Ha Hoa, Thanh Ba, Phu Ninh and Lam Thao.

During the 2 years of project implementation, the Project Management Board (PMU) under the Provincial Farmers’ Association organized 16 conferences with the participation of 800 delegates. Through training, members learned about the project as well as the benefits of waste treatment, environmental protection, and resource saving...

Within the framework of the project, the Project Management Board has implemented 40 training courses, providing guidance on 5 techniques (fermenting crop by-products for animal feed, raising chickens on thick biological bedding, composting organic fertilizer from crop by-products, techniques for raising calcium worms, and raising earthworms) for 1,000 farmer members.

The Project Management Board has deployed support to build 540 models, handed over 9 agricultural by-product choppers, 18 waste sorting bins to the Farmers' Association of 9 communes and towns participating in the project. The models initially brought positive results.

In addition, the Project Management Board also organized 8 communication conferences at all 3 levels of province, district and commune for more than 800 farmer members to participate; organized 6 tours and model study tours for 240 officials and farmer members; established and maintained the activities of 9 propaganda teams, 9 waste collection teams in communes and towns participating in the Project. Thereby, helping farmer members change their habits, apply environmentally friendly farming and livestock methods, and develop green and sustainable agriculture.

At the workshop, delegates discussed, exchanged and shared techniques, experiences and project effectiveness; difficulties and obstacles in the project implementation process and prospects for replicating the models.

On this occasion, the Provincial Farmers' Association awarded 4 collectives and 4 individuals with outstanding achievements in the project implementation process.
